Mole for Windows Help
Mole supports Windows 10 22H2 and Windows 11. Intel and AMD PCs use the x64 installer; Arm PCs, such as those with Snapdragon processors, use Arm64. Installation and everyday use do not require administrator access.
Windows is still in testing. Read the feature guidance alongside the update notes and include the version shown in the app when reporting a problem.
Download and install
Download the installer from the Windows page in a browser on this PC and run it. Mole installs for the current account; other accounts need their own installation. Download the installer only from mole.fit.
If SmartScreen says Windows protected your PC, choose More info, check that the publisher is Faberon Technology Limited, then choose Run anyway. If the publisher is missing or different, stop, delete that file and download it again from this site.
An os error 5, access-denied error or failure to remove the old app folder may come from a transfer tool marking the installer as low integrity. Copy it to the Desktop and run the copy, or download it again in a browser on this PC. Moving a file keeps its original mark; copying it gives the new file the Desktop's normal integrity level.
Buy and activate
One Windows license covers two PCs at the same time. Each paid tool can be tried twice before purchase, and purchases can be refunded within 14 days.
Open Mole, press Ctrl + Shift + L, paste the key from your purchase email or payment result page, and activate it. When changing PCs, deactivate the old PC in its license panel before activating the new one. If the old PC is no longer available, use the Dodo Payments customer portal.
If the key is missing, search your inbox and spam folder for Dodo, or sign in to the customer portal to find the order. If you still cannot find it, send the purchase email address or Payment ID to hi@mole.fit. Use the same address for a refund.
Review before cleaning or uninstalling
Clean scans first and lets you review each row. Caches that can regenerate are selected; folders containing offline downloads, settings or personal data wait for your choice. Caches in use are skipped. Select all does not tick administrator rows such as system temp files; an administrator prompt appears at cleanup only when you select those rows yourself.
Uninstall runs the app's own uninstaller first, then handles the leftovers you selected after it succeeds. A cancelled or failed uninstall keeps the files. Personal data starts unticked, and browser profiles, mail profiles and chat history are never bulk-selected. Leftover files go to the Recycle Bin and registry entries are backed up before removal. Files can be restored while they remain in the bin. The tested-app catalog and uninstall guides show each app's data locations.
If the vendor's uninstall window is still open, finish its confirmation steps. Restart when it asks, then check again. Do not delete the installation folder while the app is still installed. For a file lock, quit the identified owning app; keep processes and data shared with other apps.
Restore files and registry backups
Open the Windows Recycle Bin, find the file or folder and choose Restore from its context menu. Recovery is available only while the item remains there; emptying the bin or permanent deletion removes that path. Ordinary caches use the removal method in Settings. Administrator caches are permanently deleted rather than recycled.
Press Win + R and open %LOCALAPPDATA%\Mole\backups. Find the matching .reg file by operation time and app name, use its Edit action to inspect it, then double-click and confirm the Windows prompt to import only the backup you need. This restores registry entries; it does not reinstall an app or recover deleted personal files.
Optimize
Optimize performs repairs and maintenance: refreshing Start and search, removing startup entries whose program was deleted, flushing DNS caches and checking disk and Windows health. It does not turn services or security features off in bulk to speed up the PC.
Tasks that need administrator access ask for it; declining leaves those tasks undone. Low battery, disk problems or an update in progress can hold back some maintenance. Read the outcome and address its condition first. System repairs can take time; save your work and restart when requested rather than repeatedly running the same task.
Analyze
Scan a drive or folder. Rectangle sizes represent scanned content; open a directory to inspect its children or open its location in Explorer. Confirm ownership before removing unwanted ordinary files. System directories and protected locations cannot be directly recycled.
Hibernation and paging files, WSL and Docker disks, phone backups and local AI models are not ordinary caches. Analyze explains common items; use Windows or the owning app to manage them. An unreadable folder is not an empty one, and a scan may not account for all used space on the drive. See the large-file guide.
Status and the tray
Status shows CPU, memory, disk and network activity. Watch the changes over time and identify the owning app in the process list. Brief activity during launch or updates is normal; sustained use needs a closer look.
Save your work before ending a process, and confirm it belongs to the app you intend to close. Keep system processes and processes shared with other apps. The tray provides quick status access, Keep Screen On and Clean Screen.
Startup
The Apps startup list can enable or disable programs that run at sign-in. Disabling an entry does not uninstall the app; you can open it manually and enable the entry again. Check the name and program path first. Recognized security, device-management, VPN and proxy entries remain locked.
The startup list is not a list of every service and scheduled task. For a process that remains after uninstalling, check its file location. See the startup guide.
Update Mole and other apps
Click the Mole mark at the top left of the window and choose Check for Updates. Read the notes, then choose Install and Restart. A download can be cancelled and installed later. Mole's own updates are separate from the Apps tab, which checks other apps through winget. Browser updates open the browser's own update page.
See the Windows update notes for version changes and the app update guide for update channels and verification.
Settings and shortcuts
Ctrl + , opens Settings, Ctrl + Shift + L opens the license panel, Ctrl + 1 through Ctrl + 5 switch tabs, Ctrl + Tab moves to the next tab, and Esc closes the current panel.
Keep Screen On and Clean Screen are in the tray. A running Keep Screen On session can also be stopped from the title bar. Ctrl + Alt + Win + Esc exits Clean Screen. If you changed a global shortcut, use the combination shown in Settings.
Diagnostics and feedback
Click the Mole mark at the top left and choose Run Diagnostics. Send the report and a description of what happened to hi@mole.fit, including your Windows and Mole versions and the affected tab: Clean, Apps, Optimize, Analyze or Status. Read the report before sending and remove anything you do not want to share.
Scanning, cleaning and uninstalling run locally; file names and scan results are not uploaded. Activation, updates, the license device list and the public IP lookup in Status use the network. See the privacy policy.
