How to uninstall Vesktop on Mac
Keep wanted Vesktop and Vencord settings before removing the app. The official project is a custom Discord desktop client with Vencord preinstalled. This page covers its official Mac disk-image app, not removal of the Discord account or a separate Discord installation.
Quit and remove the app
Leave any call and quit Vesktop with Cmd + Q. Check that its helpers have exited before moving vesktop.app to the Trash. Keep independently installed Discord clients.
Review local client data
~/Library/Application Support/vesktopheld local client state in the test. Copy wanted settings or customizations before removing the parent.~/Library/Preferences/dev.vencord.vesktop.plistheld preferences.- The Mac cask also names
~/Library/Caches/dev.vencord.vesktop,~/Library/Caches/dev.vencord.vesktop.Shipit,~/Library/HTTPStorages/dev.vencord.vesktopand~/Library/Saved Application State/dev.vencord.vesktop.savedState. Its Linux~/.config/vesktopstanza is a separate platform path. - Messages kept by Discord are account data, not a Mac app-cache backup.
After quitting Vesktop, open each chosen Mac path above with Finder’s Shift + Command + G. Copy wanted settings outside the support folder, then move only the files or folders you chose to the Trash. Keep the shared Library parent folders and data belonging to other Discord clients.
Check the result
pgrep -ifl vesktop
ls -ld /Applications/vesktop.app "$HOME/Library/Application Support/vesktop" "$HOME/Library/Preferences/dev.vencord.vesktop.plist"
No process output means this name was not found, not that every helper has gone. Check any match against the app’s actual executable path. A missing-path error from ls means only that location is absent; permission errors leave its state unknown. A surviving folder can be intentional data to keep.
If you installed it with Homebrew
The Mac cask has no separate uninstall helper. Zap includes the whole vesktop support parent and the exact cache, HTTP, preference and saved-state paths.
To uninstall without zap, use:
brew uninstall --cask vesktop
Mole checks Homebrew's full removal list and skips --zap when it reaches unchecked data, shared files or anything it cannot verify. It still removes the leftovers you selected. A direct brew uninstall --cask --zap vesktop runs Homebrew’s full zap list without consulting Mole’s checkboxes.
Discord account
Uninstalling Vesktop does not delete your Discord account, server membership or cancel a subscription. Handle those separately in Discord.
What Mole lists
Mole selects the app, exact preferences and attributable cache rows by default. The lowercase vesktop support parent is unchecked with “Remove data and settings with apps” off; enabling it can also select this eligible reviewed row. Uncheck it if you want to keep your client settings. Its exact recent-document-list file can be selected; the shared parent directory remains protected.
What this test covered
On September 25, 2026, Vesktop 1.6.7 was copied from the official Mac package and tested with a development build of Mole without signing in. The selected app data was removed with no attributed leftovers in the observation window. Logged-in sessions, messages, calls and subscription changes were not verified.
