Mac storage cost calculator
At Apple's upgrade price, 100 GB of Mac storage costs about $50
How the price is worked out
When you configure a Mac, Apple charges the same amount for every extra terabyte above 1 TB, so that price times the capacity gives what the space would cost to buy. The prices below come from the MacBook Air configurators on 13 October 2026, the euro price was the same in Germany, Spain and Italy, and 1 TB counts as 1,000 GB, the way Apple and Finder count storage.
Prices by currency
| Currency | Per extra TB |
|---|---|
| US dollar | $500 |
| Euro | €550 |
| Japanese yen | JP¥90,000 |
| South Korean won | ₩850,000 |
| Brazilian real | R$ 6,000 |
| Chinese yuan | CN¥3,750 |
| New Taiwan dollar | NT$17,500 |
Why free space is worth this much
Apple sells no storage upgrade after purchase, so more built-in space means buying another Mac with a bigger drive, while space you free up costs nothing. After each cleanup, Mole's Mac Cleaner shows the price of what it removed from the same table, using the Apple Store that matches the app's language. Caches grow back over time, so read that number as a reference, not as money saved.
