How to uninstall SolveSpace on Mac
Save your SolveSpace parts and linked assembly files before uninstalling. The reference manual describes linked parts and exported geometry; keep their source files as well as any exports. This guide covers the official Mac disk-image app.
Quit and remove the app
After saving and checking the backup, quit SolveSpace with Cmd + Q and move the Mac app from Applications to the Trash. Leave independently saved work and other applications in place.
Review local data
~/Library/Preferences/com.solvespace.plistholds Mac settings.~/Library/Saved Application State/com.solvespace.savedStateis the cask’s saved-window-state target.- Your part, assembly and exported files remain wherever you saved them; the local test did not establish another home-data directory.
After checking your CAD and settings backups and quitting, press Shift + Command + G in Finder to open ~/Library/Preferences/com.solvespace.plist and ~/Library/Saved Application State/com.solvespace.savedState when present. Move only the SolveSpace item you chose to discard to the Trash, keeping parts, linked assembly files and exports separately.
Check the result
pgrep -ifl SolveSpace
ls -ld /Applications/SolveSpace.app "$HOME/Library/Preferences/com.solvespace.plist"
No process output means this name was not found, not that every helper has gone. Check any match against the app’s actual executable path. A missing-path error from ls means only that location is absent; permission errors leave its state unknown. A surviving folder can be intentional data to keep.
If you installed it with Homebrew
The cask has no separate uninstall helper. Zap targets preferences and saved state, not arbitrary CAD projects.
To uninstall without zap, use:
brew uninstall --cask solvespace
Mole checks Homebrew's full removal list and skips --zap when it reaches unchecked data, shared files or anything it cannot verify. It still removes the leftovers you selected. A direct brew uninstall --cask --zap solvespace runs Homebrew’s full zap list without consulting Mole’s checkboxes.
What Mole lists
Mole selects the app and exact preference/cache rows by default. It does not treat every SolveSpace project as a leftover or scan unrelated CAD applications as part of this uninstall.
What this test covered
On September 21, 2026, the official universal SolveSpace 3.2 app was opened and uninstalled. The app, preferences and Darwin cache were removed. No real assembly, linked project files or Homebrew installation was tested.
