How to uninstall Qoder IDE on Mac

Qoder IDE keeps your agent sessions, memories and settings in ~/.qoder, a folder that also belongs to the Qoder CLI, QoderWork and the newer Qoder desktop app, so removing the IDE should not automatically take it. Qoder's CLI installation page calls ~/.qoder the configuration directory and asks you to make sure no sessions, memories or settings you need are left in it before deleting it. If you are moving to the newer Qoder app, its data import reads Quest task records, scheduled tasks and memories from the Qoder IDE on the same Mac, so run it before you remove anything. This guide covers Qoder IDE downloaded from qoder.com, the app that shows as Qoder in Applications with the bundle ID com.qoder.ide. QoderWork has its own guide.

    Quit Qoder IDE

    1. Save your work and quit Qoder from its app menu or with Command-Q.
    2. Search for Qoder in Activity Monitor and check that the IDE's processes have exited. If QoderWork is also open, its processes can match the same search; leave them alone.
    3. Open System Settings › General › Login Items & Extensions and turn off any Qoder IDE entry that is still listed. None was added in this test.

The newer Qoder desktop app can also be named Qoder. To confirm which one you are about to remove, check its bundle ID:

    mdls -name kMDItemCFBundleIdentifier /Applications/Qoder.app

"com.qoder.ide" means this is Qoder IDE, the app this guide covers. Any other ID means it is a different Qoder product. "could not find" means nothing is installed at that path.

    Move Qoder IDE to Trash

Open the Applications folder in Finder and move Qoder to Trash.

Where Qoder IDE keeps its files

In Finder, press Shift + Command + G and check each location. Skip the ones that do not exist.

Location What it holds What to do
~/Library/Application Support/Qoder Editor data: settings, the code index in SharedClientCache, cached extension packages and logs (120 MB in this test) Back up anything you want to keep, then remove it
~/.qoder Agent session transcripts, memories, extensions imported from VS Code on first launch, plugins, mcp.json and helper binaries (410 MB in this test) Keep it while you use the Qoder CLI, QoderWork or the newer Qoder app; otherwise back up what you want and remove it
~/.qodersec A code security scanner with its qodercli and qodersec binaries and config.yaml (110 MB in this test) Keep it while another Qoder product is installed; otherwise remove it
~/.qoder-cli Usage statistics shared with QoderWork Keep it while QoderWork is installed
~/Library/Caches/Qoder, ~/Library/HTTPStorages/Qoder Cache and web storage Remove with the app
~/Library/Preferences/com.qoder.ide.plist, ~/Library/Preferences/Qoder.plist Preferences Remove with the app
~/Library/Application Support/com.qoder.installer Written by the Qoder CN installer, not by Qoder IDE Keep it if Qoder CN is installed

Qoder's documentation names ~/.qoder as the shared configuration directory. The other descriptions come from what this test observed on disk.

    Check the result

    pgrep -il qoder
    ls -d /Applications/Qoder.app
    ls -d "$HOME/Library/Application Support/Qoder" ~/.qoder ~/.qodersec ~/.qoder-cli
    command -v qodercli
launchctl list | grep -i qoder

    • No output from pgrep means no Qoder process is running. A listed process means Qoder IDE, QoderWork or another Qoder product is still open.
    • ls -d /Applications/Qoder.app printing the path means an app is still there; check its bundle ID with the mdls command above.
    • The third line prints each folder that still exists and reports "No such file or directory" for the rest. Surviving dot folders are expected when you leave those rows unticked or another Qoder product still uses them.
    • command -v qodercli printing a path means a Qoder CLI is still reachable in this shell, so keep ~/.qoder. No output means this shell cannot find one.
    • A com.qoder.ide.ShipIt line from launchctl list is the IDE's updater job. In an earlier test it stayed registered after the app was gone; it holds no data and disappears after you log out or restart.

No Homebrew cask for Qoder IDE was found, and the app added no command to /usr/local/bin and no line to your shell configuration in this test. Removing the app does not cancel a Qoder subscription or delete your account. For other AI coding tools and what they leave behind, see Clean Up AI Coding Tools on Mac: Caches, CLIs, Transcripts.

    What Mole lists

When you remove Qoder IDE with Mole:

    • ~/Library/Preferences/com.qoder.ide.plist, ~/Library/Caches/Qoder, ~/Library/HTTPStorages/Qoder, temporary caches and the recent-documents entry are selected by default, and so are the rebuildable caches and logs inside ~/Library/Application Support/Qoder (Cache, Code Cache, GPUCache, DawnGraphiteCache, DawnWebGPUCache, Crashpad, blob_storage, logs).
    • ~/Library/Application Support/Qoder itself and ~/Library/Preferences/Qoder.plist are listed for review. With Default remove app data off they start unchecked; with it on, eligible rows can start checked. Back up settings and uncheck any data you want to keep.
    • ~/.qoder, ~/.qoder-cli and ~/.qodersec are listed for review only while QoderWork is not installed. Eligible rows can start checked with Default remove app data on. Mole does not check for the Qoder CLI or the newer Qoder app, so uncheck the shared folders either still uses.
    • ~/Library/Application Support/com.qoder.installer is listed for review, although the Qoder CN installer is what writes it. It may start checked with Default remove app data on; uncheck it while you still need Qoder CN or its installer.

    What this test covered

Qoder IDE 1.32.1 was downloaded from qoder.com, copied into Applications and signed in on September 28, 2026, then used for chats and agent tasks in two projects, which also built a code index. On September 29 it was quit and removed with a development build of Mole with every row ticked, in a run with other AI apps. Before removal Mole's Status page showed it as one row of 23 processes using 2.22 GB. The app and its support data went to the Trash. ~/.qoder (410 MB), ~/.qodersec (110 MB) and ~/.qoder-cli were not in Mole's list in that run, and Mole lists them now. No login item was added before or after. An earlier run on September 22, 2026 removed Qoder IDE 1.24.2: the 775.8 MB app, an 821 MB updater cache and 62 MB of support data went to the Trash, ~/.qoder (115 MB) was not listed, and the com.qoder.ide.ShipIt job stayed registered afterward. The Qoder CLI, the newer Qoder app, data import and signing out were not tested.
