How to uninstall Pixelmator Pro Creator Studio on Mac

Save editable Pixelmator Pro documents as PXD and keep original images and exported copies before removing the Creator Studio edition. Apple’s save instructions use File › Save with Pixelmator Pro Document as the default format; PXD preserves editable adjustments. Copy wanted documents outside any sync location and open the copies before proceeding.

Quit and review this edition’s data

Finish edits and quit Pixelmator Pro. Inspect ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.pixelmator using Finder’s Go › Go to Folder, and copy wanted local settings before resetting it. Keep ~/Library/Group Containers/4R6749AYRE.com.pixelmator and ~/Library/Application Scripts/4R6749AYRE.com.pixelmator until their ownership and backups are confirmed. The separate ~/Library/Group Containers/group.com.apple.creatorstudio and ~/Library/Application Scripts/group.com.apple.creatorstudio can be shared with other Creator Studio apps; keep them.

After checking the backup, move this edition’s app to the Trash. The recorded copy was named Pixelmator Pro Creator Studio.app; use its actual Finder location if your filename differs, and keep other Pixelmator editions and the Photos library. Removing one app does not cancel the Creator Studio subscription.

    Check the result

ls -ld "/Applications/Pixelmator Pro Creator Studio.app"
    ls -ld "$HOME/Library/Containers/com.apple.pixelmator" "$HOME/Library/Group Containers/4R6749AYRE.com.pixelmator"

Printed entries remain. A missing-path error means that exact item is absent; permission errors leave it unknown. The app command checks the recorded filename, not every renamed copy. Retained groups are expected when preserving shared data, and these checks do not verify document recovery or subscription status.

    What Mole lists

The exact main container and its scripts are selected by default when present and unprotected. Confirmed bundled Photos, Quick Look, Remove Background and thumbnail extension container and script rows are also selected by default; uncheck settings you need. The team-prefixed Pixelmator group store and scripts are individually reviewed, unchecked by default and not preselected by the app-data option. Shared Creator Studio data should be kept. Remove data and settings with apps is off by default; eligible reviewed data can be included when enabled, with shared and protected items retaining their boundaries.

    What this test covered

The Mac App Store Creator Studio edition was removed on September 21, 2026, initially retaining a denied main container and unchecked extension data. A September 26 repeat with a source-built Mole removed the app and selected main and extension rows, while team-prefixed group data was retained by the ownership guard. Shared Creator Studio groups and a temporary cache also appeared in the rescan. No personal image document, Photos-library recovery or subscription cancellation was tested.

If Mac apps leave files behind after uninstalling, try Mole. I've personally tested and inspected 799 Mac apps.
