Uninstall Dropbox on Mac without deleting the Dropbox folder

Quit Dropbox from the menu bar, then move it from Applications to the Trash. Dropbox’s own uninstall says this removes the app, does not sign you out, and does not delete the Dropbox folder.

Leave the files

Deleting the Dropbox folder is a second choice. Online-only items can be placeholders, so copy what you need outside that folder and open the copy before you remove the original.

What Mole lists

Mole may list ~/Library/Application Support/Dropbox for review, and it does not preselect that row. It does not list the synced folder under ~/Library/CloudStorage as a leftover. The package checked here is the official disk image for com.getdropbox.dropbox.
