How to uninstall coconutBattery on Mac
Keep wanted coconutBattery history and settings before uninstalling. The official site describes saved battery-health information and a separate menu bar view. This page covers the official Mac archive app, not deletion of device data or a license change.
Quit and remove the app
Quit coconutBattery and its menu bar component, then verify that both have stopped before moving coconutBattery.app to the Trash. Keep reports you saved outside the app and leave other monitoring tools installed.
Data to keep or review
~/Library/Application Support/coconutBatteryheld local app data. Keep wanted history or settings before reviewing the parent.~/Library/Group Containers/R5SC3K86L5.com.coconut-flavour.coconutBatteryand~/Library/Application Scripts/R5SC3K86L5.com.coconut-flavour.coconutBatterywere observed. They are reviewed group data and require an ownership check.- Other recorded data includes
~/Library/Preferences/com.coconut-flavour.coconutBattery.plist,~/Library/Preferences/com.coconut-flavour.coconutBattery-Menu.plist, and~/Library/WebKit/com.coconut-flavour.coconutBattery. The cask lists cache names beginning withcom.coconut-flavour.coconutBatteryunder~/Library/Cachesand~/Library/Saved Application State/com.coconut-flavour.coconutBattery.savedState. Saved reports and the data on connected devices are separate.
After backing up wanted history, open Finder and press Shift + Command + G to check each full path above. For the cache pattern, open ~/Library/Caches and inspect matching names. Move only confirmed coconutBattery items to the Trash; remove group data only after checking no installed app still uses it. For the cask’s recent-document pattern, open ~/Library/Application Support/com.apple.sharedfilelist/com.apple.LSSharedFileList.ApplicationRecentDocuments and inspect existing com.coconut-flavour.coconutbattery.sfl* files. Move only verified unwanted coconutBattery records to the Trash, keeping that shared parent.
Check the result
pgrep -ifl coconutBattery
launchctl list | grep -F com.coconut-flavour.coconutBattery-Menu
ls -ld /Applications/coconutBattery.app "$HOME/Library/Application Support/coconutBattery" "$HOME/Library/Group Containers/R5SC3K86L5.com.coconut-flavour.coconutBattery"
No process output means this name was not found, not that every helper has gone. Check any match against the app’s actual executable path. A missing-path error from ls means only that location is absent; permission errors leave its state unknown. A surviving folder can be intentional data to keep.
launchctl reports the current user’s jobs. No matching row does not rule out a differently registered helper; a permission error leaves that state unknown. A surviving row needs its executable checked before you decide to stop it.
If you installed it with Homebrew
Ordinary cask uninstall unloads and quits com.coconut-flavour.coconutBattery-Menu. Zap also covers support data, group/script patterns, caches, preferences, saved state, WebKit and an app-specific recent-document pattern. Group data is not permission to delete shared parents.
To uninstall without zap, use:
brew uninstall --cask coconutbattery
Mole checks Homebrew's full removal list and skips --zap when it reaches unchecked data, shared files or anything it cannot verify. It still removes the leftovers you selected. A direct brew uninstall --cask --zap coconutbattery runs Homebrew’s full zap list without consulting Mole’s checkboxes.
What Mole lists
Mole selects the app, exact preferences and attributable caches by default. With “Remove data and settings with apps” off, the support parent stays unticked; turning it on can select eligible app data. The observed team-prefixed group/script rows still need individual review. Shared group ownership keeps its existing checks and individual review even when app-data defaults are enabled.
These are the defaults with “Remove data and settings with apps” turned off. Enabling that preference can also select eligible reviewed app data; shared stores, protected profiles and agent archives keep their individual review or remain locked. Check the final list before confirming.
What this test covered
On September 25, 2026, coconutBattery 4.4.0 was copied from the official archive and tested with a development build of Mole. The first batch left two reviewed group/script paths; after a batch-ownership fix, uninstalling again with the other apps recorded their removal. Populated battery-history recovery, device data removal and license changes were not tested.
