How to uninstall ClaudeBar on Mac
Keep your ClaudeBar configuration before removing this menu bar app. The official project describes an AI usage monitor; uninstalling it does not remove the coding assistants or cancel their subscriptions. This page covers the official Mac disk-image app.
Quit and remove the app
Quit ClaudeBar from its menu bar and wait for its process to exit, then move ClaudeBar.app from Applications to the Trash. Leave other assistant apps and CLIs installed unless you separately intend to remove them.
Check local settings and leftovers
After quitting, use Shift + Command + G in Finder to open each location below. Copy settings you want to keep to a separate backup before moving the unwanted ClaudeBar folders and files to the Trash.
| Location | What to check |
|---|---|
~/.claudebar |
ClaudeBar configuration observed on first launch; back it up before removal |
~/Library/Application Support/ClaudeBar |
App support data; keep it if you want to restore those settings |
~/Library/Caches/ClaudeBar, ~/Library/Caches/com.tddworks.claudebar |
ClaudeBar caches |
~/Library/HTTPStorages/com.tddworks.claudebar |
Local HTTP storage |
~/Library/Logs/ClaudeBar |
Diagnostic logs |
~/Library/Preferences/ClaudeBar.plist, ~/Library/Preferences/com.tddworks.claudebar.plist |
App preferences |
The current cask lists these Library locations; they may not all exist on your Mac. Open the containing folder to select a listed file. Shared assistant credentials and history, including ~/.claude and ~/.codex, are not ClaudeBar cache directories and must not be deleted as part of this uninstall.
Check the result
pgrep -ifl ClaudeBar
ls -ld /Applications/ClaudeBar.app "$HOME/.claudebar" "$HOME/Library/Logs/ClaudeBar"
No process output means this name was not found, not that every helper has gone. Check any match against the app’s actual executable path. A missing-path error from ls means only that location is absent; permission errors leave its state unknown. A surviving folder can be intentional data to keep.
If you installed it with Homebrew
The cask has no separate uninstall helper. Zap covers ClaudeBar support data, caches, HTTP storage, logs and preferences. Its list does not include ~/.claudebar, shared assistant archives or provider accounts.
To uninstall without zap, use:
brew uninstall --cask claudebar
Mole skips --zap if it reaches unchecked or shared data, or cannot verify the full list, and still removes the leftovers you selected. A direct brew uninstall --cask --zap claudebar runs Homebrew’s full zap list without consulting Mole’s checkboxes.
What Mole lists
Mole selects the app, exact preferences and attributable caches by default. It lists ~/.claudebar and display-name support data without selecting them by default. Shared assistant archives stay outside this app’s blanket removal.
These are the defaults with “Remove data and settings with apps” turned off. Enabling that preference can also select eligible reviewed app data; shared stores, protected profiles and agent archives keep their individual review or remain locked. Check the final list before confirming.
What this test covered
On September 25, 2026, ClaudeBar 0.4.93 was copied from the official disk image and tested with a development build of Mole. The initially missed ~/.claudebar leaf was added for review and removed on retest. Provider authentication, live quota accuracy and subscription changes were not part of that uninstall test.
