Uninstall Zoom on Mac with Zoom’s uninstaller

Use Zoom’s uninstaller. Dragging Zoom to the Trash is not the removal Zoom documents, and files you saved yourself are not leftover app data.

Uninstall from the Zoom menu

  1. Open Zoom.
  2. In the menu bar, click zoom.us, then Uninstall Zoom.
  3. Click OK. Zoom says this removes the desktop app and its components.

If that menu item is missing, Zoom’s fallback lives inside the app:

  1. In Finder, open Applications and find Zoom.
  2. Control-click Zoom and choose Show Package Contents.
  3. Open Contents, then Frameworks.
  4. Double-click ZoomUninstaller and wait until it finishes.

Those steps are from Zoom’s macOS uninstall instructions for a broken update: error code 10008. Follow them when you want Zoom removed. Reinstalling is a separate choice and is not required to finish the uninstall.

Check two leftovers, and leave your own files

After the uninstaller finishes, look at these paths only if they still exist. Skip a missing one.

~/Library/Preferences/ZoomChat.plist Mole lists this chat-preferences file and does not preselect it. Open it only if you need to confirm what it is.
~/Library/Logs/ZoomPhone Mole includes this Phone log folder in the plan you review. After Zoom is gone, leave it only if you still need the logs.

Meetings and recordings you saved in Documents or on the Desktop stay yours. This test did not treat those folders as app leftovers, so this page does not name them as deletion targets.

What this test covered

The menu steps above are Zoom’s, for the app it installs. The recorded uninstall used a Homebrew cask, which is a different removal flow. The test kept chat preferences for review and did not collect recordings you store yourself.
