How to uninstall Wavebox on Mac
Save your Wavebox workspace and local profile before uninstalling. Profile Sync can sync workflows and settings, but excludes cookies, browsing data and history, so it is not a complete copy of the local profile. This guide covers the official Mac app and Homebrew cask wavebox.
Keep the profile, then quit
Save wanted tabs and downloads, quit Wavebox with Command + Q, then copy ~/Library/Application Support/WaveboxApp somewhere outside that folder. Keep the copy until you have checked the data you need. Move Wavebox.app from Applications to Trash after it has quit; closing a browser window alone is not enough.
Review only Wavebox's folders
Open Finder's Go to Folder with Shift + Command + G. These locations come from the recorded Mac test and the current cask.
| Location | Keep or remove |
|---|---|
| ~/Library/Application Support/WaveboxApp | Browser profile and workspace state. Back up before choosing to remove it. |
| ~/Library/Caches/WaveboxApp | Separate Wavebox cache named by the cask. Inspect its contents rather than removing a Chrome parent folder. |
| ~/Library/Caches/com.bookry.wavebox | Bundle-specific cache named by the cask. |
| ~/Library/Preferences/com.bookry.wavebox.plist | Local preferences. Removing them resets settings. |
| ~/Library/Saved Application State/com.bookry.wavebox.savedState | Saved window state. |
Keep shared Chrome folders and other browsers' profiles. Removing the Mac app does not delete a synced profile in My Wavebox or cancel a paid plan; those are separate account actions.
Check the result
pgrep -il Wavebox
ls -d /Applications/Wavebox.app "$HOME/Library/Application Support/WaveboxApp" "$HOME/Library/Caches/WaveboxApp"
No pgrep output means no matching process name is running. Inspect a match in Activity Monitor before continuing. A printed ls path survives, a missing-path error means it is absent, and a permission error leaves it unknown. A profile you deliberately keep is not an uninstall failure.
If you installed it with Homebrew
brew uninstall --cask wavebox
The ordinary cask uninstall removes the app and includes a quit directive. Direct brew uninstall --cask --zap wavebox also removes the support profile and cache, preference and saved-state paths above, without consulting Mole's checkboxes.
Mole uninstalls browsers without --zap and removes the leftovers you select.
What Mole lists
Application Support/WaveboxApp is listed but not selected. Browser profiles stay outside bulk selection and the Remove data and settings with apps opt-in. Personal or sensitive profiles require an individual choice; shared or unverified ownership cannot be selected. Bundle-identified preferences and ordinary bundle caches are selected by default. The cask-only Caches/WaveboxApp row is listed but not selected with the data preference off; eligible reviewed rows can be preselected when that preference is on.
What this test covered
Wavebox 153.2.204.2 from the official package was copied to Applications and uninstalled on September 21, 2026, without signing in or a Homebrew receipt. The app, preferences and temporary data went to Trash. Its 24.1 MB support profile remained protected and a 120 KB Caches/WaveboxApp directory remained. Signed-in sessions, Profile Sync, profile deletion and restoration were not verified, nor was a complete installer run.
