How to uninstall Viber on Mac
Save wanted Viber messages and media before removing the Mac app. The official site identifies the calling and messaging client; a local folder alone does not prove complete conversation recovery. Check usable copies first, finish calls and quit Viber before copying any wanted local data.
Remove the Mac app
Move Viber.app from Applications to the Trash after checking saved content. Keep the account, phone data and media files stored elsewhere. This record does not provide a verified Mac chat-backup or account-deactivation menu.
For Homebrew, the current cask supports:
brew uninstall --cask viber
Ordinary removal removes the app. Zap additionally targets exact support, ViberPC, cache/HTTP/state, matching preferences, share-extension container/scripts and vendor cache. Its ViberDownloads rmdir only removes an empty folder. Direct --zap ignores Mole selections and can erase local conversations or media, so review and back up actual contents first.
ls -ld "/Applications/Viber.app"
ls -ld "$HOME/Library/Application Support/ViberPC"
Printed paths remain. Missing-path errors apply only to those locations; permission errors leave them unknown. Keeping local data is expected when retaining content. These checks do not verify phone synchronization or chat recovery.
What Mole lists
The selected app is checked by default. Exact owned leaves can be checked when present and unprotected; display-name support needs review and is unchecked by default. Inspect actual share-extension identities before assuming their stores are selected. Remove data and settings with apps is off by default and may include eligible reviewed data when enabled. No data rows were recorded in this review, which does not establish that every Viber installation has no data.
What this test covered
The maintainer-installed official Mac app was removed with source-built Mole on October 4, 2026. Only its app body was listed and removed. Populated chat recovery, account deactivation, Status, update behavior and Homebrew-managed uninstall were not verified.
