How to uninstall Upscayl on Mac

Keep source images, finished outputs and custom models before removing Upscayl. The official guide lets you select your own custom-model folder; those independently stored .bin and .param files are separate from app settings.

    Finish image processing and quit

Finish or cancel active processing, check the output files you want, then quit Upscayl with Cmd + Q. Move Upscayl.app from Applications to the Trash. Keep original images and output folders even if the app is no longer needed.

The local test found ~/Library/Application Support/Upscayl and ~/Library/Logs/Upscayl. Back up support data if you want to keep the same app setup, and review the model location you chose separately. Do not infer that every directory named models belongs to this app.

After confirming your backup and quitting, press Shift + Command + G in Finder to open ~/Library/Application Support/Upscayl and ~/Library/Logs/Upscayl when present. Move only the Upscayl folders you chose to discard to the Trash; keep source images, outputs and independently stored models.

    Check the result

    pgrep -ifl Upscayl
    ls -ld /Applications/Upscayl.app "$HOME/Library/Application Support/Upscayl" "$HOME/Library/Logs/Upscayl"

Inspect matching executable paths. Missing-path errors mean those locations are absent, while permission errors leave them unknown. Check retained source images, outputs and custom models independently.

If you installed it with Homebrew

    brew uninstall --cask upscayl

The cask defines its managed removal. The Mac zap list names ~/Library/Application Support/Upscayl, ~/Library/Preferences/org.upscayl.app.plist and ~/Library/Saved Application State/org.upscayl.app.savedState. The tested app instead used the bundle identifier org.upscayl.Upscayl; do not treat the cask's alternate preference name as proof that every setting from the tested app will be removed.

A direct brew uninstall --cask --zap upscayl runs its whole zap list regardless of Mole's checkboxes. Mole checks Homebrew's full removal list and skips --zap when it reaches unchecked data, shared files or anything it cannot verify. It still removes the leftovers you selected.

    What Mole lists

Mole selects the app, attributable logs and exact bundle-owned cache and preferences when present. ~/Library/Application Support/Upscayl is a review row, unchecked when Remove data and settings with apps in General > Cleaning is off. Turning it on can preselect eligible app data; uncheck wanted setup and review any shared model location separately. Independently chosen models and image folders are not blanket targets of the app rows. A mismatched cask bundle identity can prevent its zap locations from being imported.

    What this test covered

On September 21, 2026, Upscayl 2.15.0 from the official Mac package was launched and removed, including selected support data and logs. A September 26 development-build retest recorded process grouping, update detection and no surviving entries from the reviewed removal list. No custom models were written during these checks; image processing, model recovery and a Homebrew installation were not verified.

Mac running low on space or slowing down? Mole can clean out the junk, remove apps completely and keep macOS in shape.
