How to uninstall Unzip on Mac

Keep archives, extracted files and their passwords before removing Unzip (解压专家). Its publisher's listing covers encrypted and split archives; uninstalling the tool does not require deleting those files. This guide covers the Mac App Store app recorded as ZipMasterMac.app.

Finish archive work and remove the app

Wait for compression or extraction to finish, verify wanted output and retain archive passwords privately. Quit Unzip, then copy its existing main container and wanted app-group data below to an independent private backup. Verify the copies before clearing originals.

Move ZipMasterMac.app from Applications to the Trash in Finder. Its bundled Finder extension leaves with the app; keep other extensions and your original archive files.

    Review recorded local data

    • ~/Library/Containers/com.jindk.ZipMasterMac and ~/Library/Application Scripts/com.jindk.ZipMasterMac: main sandbox data and scripts support.
    • ~/Library/Containers/com.jindk.ZipMasterMac.Extension and ~/Library/Application Scripts/com.jindk.ZipMasterMac.Extension: the bundled Finder extension's data and scripts.
    • ~/Library/Group Containers/578V4P5TMW.com.jindk.ZipMasterMac and ~/Library/Application Scripts/578V4P5TMW.com.jindk.ZipMasterMac: app-group state, keep unless wanted contents are backed up and exclusive ownership is confirmed.

These paths were recorded locally. Open existing entries through Finder's Go › Go to Folder after quitting and remove only unwanted confirmed-owned data after backup checks. Keep parent directories and user-chosen archive destinations.

    Check the result

    pgrep -ifl 'ZipMasterMac|Unzip.app'
    ls -ld "$HOME/Library/Containers/com.jindk.ZipMasterMac" "$HOME/Library/Group Containers/578V4P5TMW.com.jindk.ZipMasterMac"

No process match means no arguments matched this pattern; identify a surviving match before quitting it. Printed folders remain, expected if retained. A missing-path error means that exact folder is absent; permissions or command errors leave its state unknown. These checks do not verify archive integrity or password recovery.

    What Mole lists

The main container/scripts and confirmed own bundled Finder-extension folders are selected by default. Back up and uncheck wanted settings. The app group and its scripts folder require individual review and ownership checks; enabling Remove data and settings with apps does not automatically select those shared-group rows.

    What this test covered

The Mac App Store Unzip 1.7.5 was removed on September 21 and retested on September 26, 2026. The later run removed selected main and extension data but kept the group when installed-app ownership changed during the run. Archive operations, stored settings recovery and encrypted-file access were not tested.

If Mac apps leave files behind after uninstalling, try Mole. I've personally tested and inspected 799 Mac apps.
