    How to uninstall ToonFlow 1.x on Mac

    ToonFlow 1.x is the first generation of the open-source AI tool that turns novels and scripts into short animated dramas, an Electron app from the HBAI-Ltd/Toonflow-app releases with the bundle ID net.toonflow.www. The 2.x generation is a different app, built on Electrobun with the bundle ID local.toonflow.desktop, and has its own guide. ToonFlow 1.x keeps its runtime data in ~/Library/Application Support/toonflow; the README for 1.1.8 lays that runtime data folder out as local models, an oss object store for materials, characters and scenes, the server entry, agent skills and the built web pages. The test created no project, so if you made projects, look in that folder and copy what you want to keep before you start. This guide covers the GitHub release for Apple silicon; there is no Homebrew cask for it.

    Check which generation you have

    Both generations can sit in Applications under the same name, so check the bundle ID:

    mdfind "kMDItemCFBundleIdentifier == 'net.toonflow.www'"
    mdfind "kMDItemCFBundleIdentifier == 'local.toonflow.desktop'"

    A path printed by the first line is ToonFlow 1.x, the app this guide covers. A path from the second line is toonflow 2.x; follow its guide. No output from either means Spotlight found neither app; if Spotlight indexing is off for that disk, the search returns nothing even when the app is there.

    Quit and remove the app

    1. Copy anything you want to keep out of ~/Library/Application Support/toonflow, especially the data folder if you created projects.
    2. Quit ToonFlow from its menu or press Command + Q. In the test it ran 6 processes using 1.62 GB, which Mole's Status page groups into one row, and it listened on port 62429 for its built-in web pages.
    3. Open Finder, go to Applications and drag ToonFlow to the Trash.

    The app registered no login item or launch agent in the test.

    Where the data lives

    Press Shift + Command + G in Finder to open each path. Skip any path that is not on your Mac.

    Location What it holds What to do
    ~/Library/Application Support/toonflow 116 MB on the test Mac; its data folder held 111 MB of bundled models and web files, plus Electron's Cache, Code Cache and blob_storage Copy out your projects first, then remove. Mole lists it for review and does not select it.
    ~/Library/Preferences/net.toonflow.www.plist Preferences Remove. Selected by default.

    Temporary caches for net.toonflow.www and net.toonflow.www.helper sit in your per-user cache folder (getconf DARWIN_USER_CACHE_DIR prints it), and the app also leaves a recent-documents entry. Mole removes both with the app.

    Check the result

    pgrep -il toonflow
    lsof -nP -iTCP:62429 -sTCP:LISTEN
    ls -ld "$HOME/Library/Application Support/toonflow" "$HOME/Library/Preferences/net.toonflow.www.plist"

    • No output from pgrep means no ToonFlow process is running. A printed line is a process that is still alive; quit it in Activity Monitor.
    • No output from lsof means nothing is listening on the port the test saw. A printed line names the process still holding it.
    • A path printed by ls still exists. No such file or directory means the path is gone. A surviving toonflow folder is expected if you left that row unticked.

    Accounts and model keys

    Removing the app does not close any account you use with AI model providers. If you entered API keys in ToonFlow, revoke them on the provider's site if you no longer need them.

    What Mole lists

    Mole selects the app, ~/Library/Preferences/net.toonflow.www.plist, the Cache, Code Cache and blob_storage folders inside ~/Library/Application Support/toonflow, the temporary caches and the recent-documents entry. It lists ~/Library/Application Support/toonflow itself for review without selecting it, because the folder is matched by the app's name rather than its bundle ID.

    These defaults assume “Remove data and settings with apps” in General › Cleaning is off. Turning it on can select eligible reviewed app data, ~/Library/Application Support/toonflow included, so untick it if you want to keep your projects.

    What this test covered

    On October 20, 2026, the test downloaded ToonFlow 1.1.8 for Apple silicon from the project's GitHub release, copied it to Applications, launched it, created no project and removed it with a source-built Mole with the review row ticked. Mole listed eight rows and the app and moved all of them to the Trash, and none of the 378 files recorded before removal was left. Status showed one ToonFlow row with 6 processes using 1.62 GB. Mole found no update feed for the app, and no update was run. Projects, model keys and Mole's notarized release build were not tested.

    If Mac apps leave files behind after uninstalling, try Mole. I've personally tested and inspected 851 Mac apps.
