How to uninstall Streamlabs Desktop on Mac

Save wanted scenes, recordings and stream settings before removing Streamlabs Desktop. The official Mac reset workaround names Application Support/slobs-client and warns that resetting it resets settings. This guide covers the official Mac app and Homebrew cask streamlabs, not OBS Studio or its separate Streamlabs plugin.

Stop the stream, then preserve local settings

Stop streaming and recording, save the files you want, then quit Streamlabs Desktop with Command + Q. Copy ~/Library/Application Support/slobs-client outside that directory before choosing to delete it. Keep recordings, overlays and other media in their original folders.

Move Streamlabs Desktop.app from Applications to Trash after it closes. Removing apps from Streamlabs' own App Store is a different action from removing the desktop application.

    Review the exact local roots

After copying wanted settings outside these folders and quitting Streamlabs Desktop, press Shift + Command + G in Finder to open each location below. Move the app-specific items you no longer need to Trash. Check that slobs-plugins belongs to the desktop app before removing it; leave OBS Studio data and recordings in place.

    Location Keep or remove
~/Library/Application Support/slobs-client Local settings and client state. Back up before resetting.
~/Library/Application Support/slobs-plugins Plugin-data path named by the cask. Inspect actual contents before deleting it.
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.streamlabs.slobs.plist Local preferences.
~/Library/Saved Application State/com.streamlabs.slobs.savedState Saved window state.

These paths come from the current cask and Mac test. Do not delete OBS Studio data, game libraries or recorded videos. The official account guide handles connected-platform permissions separately; subscription cancellation and account deletion require their own support action.

    Check the result

    pgrep -il 'Streamlabs'
    ls -d "/Applications/Streamlabs Desktop.app" "$HOME/Library/Application Support/slobs-client" "$HOME/Library/Application Support/slobs-plugins"

No process output means no matching name is running. Inspect matches in Activity Monitor. Printed paths remain, missing-path errors mean absence, and permission errors leave them unknown. A deliberately retained settings backup or recording is not an uninstall failure.

If you installed it with Homebrew

    brew uninstall --cask streamlabs

This removes the app without zap. Direct brew uninstall --cask --zap streamlabs also removes both support roots, preferences and saved state listed above without consulting Mole's checkboxes.

Mole checks Homebrew's full removal list and skips --zap when it reaches unchecked data, shared files or anything it cannot verify. It still removes the leftovers you selected.

    What Mole lists

The exact slobs-client user-data root and a matched, nonempty cask-only slobs-plugins root are reviewed data, unchecked with Remove data and settings with apps off; enabling it can preselect eligible app-specific rows. App preferences and ordinary cache children are selected by default. OBS data, game libraries and recordings stay outside these selections.

    What this test covered

Streamlabs Desktop 1.21.6 from the official package was copied to Applications and uninstalled on September 21, 2026, without sign-in, screen-recording permission or a Homebrew receipt. The app, preferences and temporary data went to Trash. A 3.3 MB slobs-client root was not listed and was added as an exact review row afterward; slobs-plugins was empty. Populated scenes, broadcasts, plugin removal, account changes and a complete installer run were not verified.

Mac running low on space or slowing down? Mole can clean out the junk, remove apps completely and keep macOS in shape.
