How to uninstall Stream Deck on Mac
Create a Stream Deck profile backup before removal. The official backup instructions use Settings > Profiles > Backup All > Create Backup, saving the result outside the app's data folders. Check that file; profiles contain assigned actions, not copies of the plugins themselves.
Use the installer removal flow
After saving profiles, quit Stream Deck. For a full installation, the official macOS procedure provides StreamDeckUninstaller.pkg. Run that remover before independently trashing the app; the copied-app test did not execute it.
For Homebrew, the current cask supports:
brew uninstall --cask elgato-stream-deck
Ordinary uninstall quits the app, unloads listed StreamDeck services, processes its package receipt and deletes listed app/launch-agent files. Zap also targets the exact support, cache, crash-reporter cache and preference leaves. Direct --zap ignores Mole selections and can remove local profile backups stored inside the support folder.
ls -ld "$HOME/Library/Application Support/com.elgato.StreamDeck"
ls -ld "$HOME/Library/Preferences/com.elgato.StreamDeck.plist"
Printed paths remain. Missing-path errors apply only to these locations; permission errors leave them unknown. Neither check verifies backup restoration or every installed plugin.
What Mole lists
The selected app and exact app-identifier support and preference leaves are normally checked when present and unprotected. The observed elgato/StreamDeck support and cache children need review, while shared elgato parents stay. Remove data and settings with apps is off by default; eligible reviewed data may be included when enabled. Uncheck the profile store if keeping it.
What this test covered
The app copied from the official package and selected data were removed with source-built Mole on September 28, 2026. The installer scripts were not run; no daemon or Wave Link installation was covered. The bundled trampoline job was absent afterward, shared empty vendor parents remained, and an empty preference plist was recreated. Populated profile restoration, vendor uninstaller execution and full package removal were not tested.
