How to uninstall SPlayer (Mac App Store) on Mac
Keep media files, subtitle files and wanted playback settings before removing SPlayer's Mac App Store edition. The current App Store publisher entry matches org.splayer.splayerx. Quit the player before copying wanted contents of ~/Library/Containers/org.splayer.splayerx; a container copy is not a backup of media stored elsewhere.
Remove this edition
Move the actual SPlayer app from Applications to the Trash after checking saved files. Keep original media and other playback apps. The Homebrew splayer recipe refers to a separately tracked distribution; this guide does not treat that command as removal of the recorded App Store installation.
Only if it was installed through Homebrew, the current splayer cask supports:
brew uninstall --cask splayer
It removes the managed SPlayer.app, has no extra uninstall or zap stanza, and does not manage the recorded Mac App Store installation.
ls -ld "$HOME/Library/Containers/org.splayer.splayerx"
ls -ld "$HOME/Library/Application Scripts/org.splayer.splayerx"
Printed paths remain. Missing-path errors apply only to these locations; permission errors leave them unknown. A retained container is expected when keeping settings or after a refusal. These checks do not verify media recovery or every same-named app.
What Mole lists
The selected app, exact main container and scripts are normally checked when present and unprotected. Uncheck the container if keeping its contents, and keep it when the deletion guard refuses. Remove data and settings with apps is off by default; shared media and other distributions remain separate.
What this test covered
The maintainer-installed Intel Mac App Store app and selected scripts were removed with source-built Mole on October 3, 2026. The main container remained after a permission failure. It was not launched in this run, and earlier user activity is unknown. Playback, populated settings restoration and the separate Homebrew distribution were not tested.
