How to uninstall Splashtop Personal on Mac
Keep account details and wanted connection settings before removing Splashtop Personal. The official download page separates the Personal app you connect from from Personal Streamer on the machine you connect to. This guide covers the Mac Personal client and Homebrew cask splashtop-personal, not Business or Streamer removal.
Use the matching package's uninstaller
End remote sessions and save remote files, then quit Splashtop Personal. Mount the official Personal DMG and open Uninstall Splashtop Personal.app. The inspected 3.7.6.0 image contains that exact app, which calls Uninstall Splashtop Personal.sh with administrator authorization. Back up wanted settings and any files in each user’s ~/Documents/Splashtop Personal first; its script also removes Personal support data for multiple users and handles the client’s updater helper. The vendor's combined uninstall article directs Mac users to the DMG, but names the Streamer uninstall script; do not run that script unless you intend to remove Streamer. Use the Personal uninstaller above for this client, not the Streamer script.
A copied app and a package-installed client are different scopes. Do not treat dragging the client app to Trash as proof that an updater installed by a full package is gone.
Review the Personal client's local files
| Location | Keep or remove |
|---|---|
| ~/Library/Application Support/Splashtop Personal | Local client support data. Back up wanted settings before removal. |
| ~/Library/Caches/com.splashtop.stp.macosx | Client cache. |
| ~/Library/HTTPStorages/com.splashtop.stp.macosx | Client HTTP storage; clearing it can reset local sessions. |
| ~/Library/Preferences/com.splashtop.stp.macosx.plist | Client preferences. |
After the uninstaller finishes, press Shift + Command + G in Finder to inspect each existing path. Move only unwanted Personal client items to the Trash after checking your backup. These are named by the current cask. Keep remote files and Streamer data separate. Uninstalling the app does not cancel paid access packs or delete your account.
Check app and package state
pgrep -il Splashtop
ls -d "/Applications/Splashtop Personal.app" "$HOME/Library/Application Support/Splashtop Personal"
launchctl list | grep -F com.splashtop.stp.macosx.helper.autoupdate
pkgutil --pkgs | grep -F com.splashtop.stp.
No matching process or launch-agent output means none was shown in that query, not that every system service is absent. Inspect matches to distinguish Personal from Streamer. Printed paths remain; missing-path errors mean absence, and permission errors leave it unknown. Package receipts record installation history and do not alone prove files still exist.
If you installed it with Homebrew
brew uninstall --cask splashtop-personal
Even without zap, the cask's ordinary uninstall requests quit, unloads com.splashtop.stp.macosx.helper.autoupdate and removes files recorded by matching package receipts before forgetting them; this is more than deleting a receipt. Direct brew uninstall --cask --zap splashtop-personal additionally removes the user-data paths above without consulting Mole's checkboxes.
Mole checks Homebrew's full removal list and skips --zap when it reaches unchecked data, shared files or anything it cannot verify. It still removes the leftovers you selected.
What Mole lists
The exact client cache, HTTP storage and preferences are selected by default. The display-name support folder is listed but not selected with Remove data and settings with apps off; enabling it can preselect eligible reviewed data. This describes local client remnants, not a verified uninstall of Streamer or package-installed services.
What this test covered
Splashtop Personal 3.7.6.0 was extracted from the official package Payload and tested on September 21, 2026, without running postinstall, signing in or a Homebrew receipt. The app, support data, caches and HTTP storage went to Trash; the DMG's uninstaller app was removed separately in Finder. The full installer, updater service, Streamer and remote-access behavior were not verified.
