How to uninstall Seagate Toolkit on Mac

Verify wanted backups and mirror files on their actual drives before removing Seagate Toolkit. Finish drive tasks and keep the backup destination and any drive-unlock information separate from the app's local settings. Quit Toolkit before copying wanted contents from ~/Library/Application Support/Toolkit.

    Use Seagate's uninstall control first

The official macOS uninstall instructions open System Settings on macOS 13 or later, locate Toolkit near the bottom of the sidebar and choose its uninstall control. On older systems, the Toolkit control is in System Preferences. Keep the installed app and preference pane available until that flow completes.

For Mole, review only confirmed Seagate startup and data rows and complete the quit-and-remove flow. The recorded app is Toolkit.app; its own user launch-agent file is ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.seagate.toolkit.plist. Keep other products and Apple ToolKit component data, even when the names resemble Toolkit.

    ls -ld "/Applications/Toolkit.app"
    ls -ld "$HOME/Library/LaunchAgents/com.seagate.toolkit.plist"

Printed paths remain. Missing-path errors apply only to those locations; permission errors leave them unknown. A missing plist alone does not prove a loaded service stopped, and these checks do not verify drive backups or unlock capability.

    What Mole lists

The selected app and exact own unprotected data leaves can be selected. Display-name support needs review and is unchecked by default. The team-prefixed com.seagate.toolkit group needs review, is not selected automatically by the optional data setting and still checks ownership at deletion. Remove data and settings with apps is off by default. Unrelated Apple ToolKit containers/scripts are excluded from this app's ownership; do not delete them by name.

    What this test covered

The maintainer-installed official app, user launch-agent file and selected Seagate data were removed with source-built Mole on October 4, 2026. That run also contained incorrectly attributed Apple ToolKit container/scripts; the current ownership rule excludes those unrelated targets. The record is not proof of complete safe product-data coverage. Vendor uninstall-control execution, populated backup recovery, drive unlocking, Status and update behavior were not verified.

If Mac apps leave files behind after uninstalling, try Mole. I've personally tested and inspected 799 Mac apps.
