How to uninstall Screens 5 on Mac
Keep saved remote-computer details and wanted settings before removing Screens 5. The current App Store publisher description distinguishes the viewer from Screens Connect used on some remote computers. Finish remote work, disconnect sessions and quit Screens before copying wanted contents of ~/Library/Containers/com.edovia.screens.5.
Remove the viewer
Move Screens 5.app from Applications to the Trash after checking saved connection details. Keep remote computers, their files, Screens Connect and other remote-access software separately. Removing this viewer is not a command to turn off services on another computer.
ls -ld "/Applications/Screens 5.app"
ls -ld "$HOME/Library/Group Containers/group.com.edovia.screens.5"
Printed paths remain. Missing-path errors apply only to these locations; permission errors leave them unknown. A retained group is expected after an ownership refusal. These checks do not verify remote host access or connection-setting recovery.
What Mole lists
The selected app, exact main container and scripts are normally checked when present and unprotected. Confirmed own QuickConnect widget containers/scripts can also be checked by default. The exact group.com.edovia.screens.5 group can be selected, but deletion still checks ownership; uncheck it if keeping its contents and retain it after a refusal. Remove data and settings with apps is off by default, with shared stores and other products keeping their boundaries.
What this test covered
The maintainer-installed Mac App Store app and selected data were removed with source-built Mole on October 4, 2026. Group container and scripts remained because exclusive ownership could not be confirmed. Populated connection recovery, remote-host changes, Screens Connect removal, Status and update behavior were not verified.
