How to uninstall RODE Central on Mac
Export wanted device recordings and save device settings before removing RODE Central. The official recording-backup instructions distinguish copied device recordings from exported audio. For a supported device, check the resulting audio files before removal; app preferences are not a backup of recordings on the transmitter.
Remove the companion app
Finish exports and any firmware operation, then quit Central and move RODE Central.app from Applications to the Trash. Keep original device recordings and exported files. This guide does not reset the device or remove its firmware.
For Homebrew, the current cask installs a package:
brew uninstall --cask rode-central
Ordinary uninstall acts on the com.rodecentral.installer receipt. Zap adds its exact cache and HTTP-storage leaves; direct --zap ignores Mole selections. This package flow is separate from the recorded copied app removal.
ls -ld "/Applications/RODE Central.app"
ls -ld "$HOME/Library/Preferences/com.rode.rodecentral.plist"
Printed paths remain. Missing-path errors apply only to those locations; permission errors leave them unknown. These checks do not verify device recordings, firmware or export recovery.
What Mole lists
The selected app and exact own preference/cache/HTTP leaves can be checked when present and unprotected. Remove data and settings with apps is off by default; exported audio, shared stores and other RODE products stay separate.
What this test covered
The official app and selected local preferences, HTTP storage and cache were removed with source-built Mole on October 3, 2026. The original selected paths were absent afterward. Device recording export, firmware changes, populated setting recovery and Homebrew package removal were not tested.
