How to uninstall REAPER on Mac
Save REAPER projects, source media and wanted configuration before removal. The official site describes the audio workstation; its local ~/Library/Application Support/REAPER is separate from projects stored elsewhere. Save work, quit REAPER, then copy wanted support contents to a checked backup before resetting them.
Remove the workstation
Move REAPER.app from Applications to the Trash after checking saved projects. Keep source media, third-party plugins and any portable REAPER installation separately.
For Homebrew, the current cask supports:
brew uninstall --cask reaper
Ordinary uninstall quits and removes the app. Zap additionally targets REAPER support, its preference and saved states for REAPER, ReaMote and plugin-host apps. Direct --zap ignores Mole choices and can reset custom configuration, so verify the backup first.
ls -ld "/Applications/REAPER.app"
ls -ld "$HOME/Library/Application Support/REAPER"
Printed paths remain. Missing-path errors apply only to those locations; permission errors leave them unknown. These checks do not inspect external projects, every portable copy or plugin recovery.
What Mole lists
The selected app and exact preference leaves are normally checked when present and unprotected. The display-name support folder needs review and is unchecked by default. Remove data and settings with apps is off by default; eligible reviewed data may be included when enabled, while projects, shared media and other plugins stay separate.
What this test covered
The official app and selected preference, temporary cache and reviewed support data were removed with source-built Mole on September 28, 2026. The portable layout was not present in this run. Populated project/media recovery, portable installation removal and Homebrew-managed uninstall were not tested.
