How to uninstall Read AI on Mac

Save wanted Read AI reports, recordings and transcripts before removing the Mac app. Finish active meeting capture and check the saved copies. Online meeting joining is separate from the desktop app: the official turn-off guide lets a Read user turn off Add Read? for an upcoming meeting in the Read AI Calendar, allowing a few minutes for the change to sync. Do not delete an account or opt out of recorded data merely to remove the app.

Quit and unload the local agent

Quit Read AI. The recorded local agent was ~/Library/LaunchAgents/Read AI.plist, with the service label Read AI. If it exists, inspect it and confirm its program belongs to your installed Read AI app:

    plutil -p "$HOME/Library/LaunchAgents/Read AI.plist"

Do not remove an unreadable or differently owned plist. For the confirmed job, this command targets only its service in your own login session; id -u supplies your user ID:

    launchctl bootout "gui/$(id -u)/Read AI"

A successful bootout unloads that registration. If it reports the service is absent, confirm that with the read-only print command below before proceeding; permission or other errors leave this step unconfirmed.

Once the job is confirmed unloaded and your backup checked, move the actual Read AI app and its confirmed ~/Library/LaunchAgents/Read AI.plist to the Trash in Finder. Keep other agents, online reports and calendar integrations until you have reviewed them separately. This guide does not invent a local report-folder path.

    Check the result

    launchctl print "gui/$(id -u)/Read AI"
    ls -ld "$HOME/Library/LaunchAgents/Read AI.plist"

A printed job is still registered. A service-not-found message concerns only that label; a listed plist remains and could be loaded again. Permission or other errors leave it unconfirmed. Also check the app’s actual Finder location; this does not prove that a cloud meeting bot, account or integration is gone.

    What Mole lists

The selected app is included for removal. A launch agent whose program is identified inside the selected app is selected by default; name-only matches remain review rows. Inspect the actual Read AI agent row rather than inferring ownership from its label. Remove data and settings with apps is off by default; eligible reviewed local data can be included when enabled, with shared and protected data retaining its boundaries. Cloud meeting joins are outside local app removal.

    What this test covered

The official copied Mac app and the observed Read AI launch-agent plist were removed with a source-built Mole on September 22, 2026; the local job was absent afterward. Meeting reports, capture recovery, cloud joining controls, account deletion and cancellation of a paid plan were not tested.

If Mac apps leave files behind after uninstalling, try Mole. I've personally tested and inspected 799 Mac apps.
