How to uninstall QClaw on Mac

Save agent work and local state before removing QClaw. If you want to move to WorkBuddy, complete the current official migration flow while QClaw is still available, rather than deleting data first. This guide covers the official-download desktop app recorded in the test; it does not claim to uninstall other agent tools or their workspaces.

Preserve work and remove the app

Finish or stop agent tasks, save changes in your working folders, and verify any migration you chose to perform. Quit QClaw and check Activity Monitor for processes you can attribute to that app before touching local data.

The recorded local folder ~/.qclaw contains mixed extensions, skills, configuration and user data, not one disposable cache. Open it using Finder's Go › Go to Folder after quitting and copy wanted contents to an independent private backup outside every sync root and removal folder. Keep the original until recovery is confirmed, and keep it when ownership or use by another tool is unclear. Do not delete shared skills or entire workspaces just because the desktop app is gone.

Move the QClaw app from Applications to the Trash in Finder only after wanted work is safely preserved.

    Check the result

    pgrep -ifl QClaw
    ls -ld "$HOME/.qclaw"

No process match means no arguments matched that name; a differently named runtime requires separate ownership checks. Identify a surviving match before quitting it, keeping unrelated Node or agent processes. A printed folder remains, expected when retained. A missing-path error means that exact folder is absent; permissions or command errors leave the result unknown. Folder existence does not prove a usable history backup or completed migration.

    What Mole lists

QClaw's app and identified associated data are reviewed separately from arbitrary workspaces. Ordinary app-support review rows start unchecked with Remove data and settings with apps off; enabling it can preselect eligible unshared data. Exact app-owned cache or preference rows can start selected by default. Check the actual list before removal and keep wanted data unchecked. The option does not add undiscovered paths or turn mixed ~/.qclaw contents into disposable cache; inspect that folder separately rather than assuming desktop removal cleared it.

    What this test covered

On September 22, 2026, QClaw 0.2.37 from the official package was copied into Applications and removed with a development build of Mole. The app and selected support data went to the Trash, while ~/.qclaw was not listed in that review. The record verifies that narrow removal scope, not agent work, signed-in remote control, WorkBuddy migration or populated-history recovery.

If Mac apps leave files behind after uninstalling, try Mole. I've personally tested and inspected 799 Mac apps.
