How to uninstall Photomator on Mac
Save originals and wanted edited results before removing Photomator. Its Mac product page says edits made in its photo browser sync to the Photos library and that it can work with files on disks and cloud services. An exported image is not a complete backup of editable adjustments or your photo library. This guide covers the Mac App Store app.
Preserve photos and edits
Allow edits to finish saving, export results you need outside Photomator and open the copies to verify them. Keep original images and editable project state. If using cloud storage and another synced device is available, verify wanted photos there too, then copy wanted files outside every sync root and removal folder.
Quit Photomator before copying its existing main container and wanted group data below to an independent private backup. Keep originals until the state you need is recoverable. Move Photomator.app from Applications to the Trash in Finder; do not delete your Photos library to uninstall an editor. Any renewable subscription is managed separately from removal.
Review recorded app data
~/Library/Containers/com.pixelmatorteam.pixelmator.touch.x.photoand~/Library/Application Scripts/com.pixelmatorteam.pixelmator.touch.x.photo: main sandbox data and scripts support.~/Library/Containers/com.pixelmatorteam.pixelmator.touch.x.photo.add-to-photomatorand~/Library/Application Scripts/com.pixelmatorteam.pixelmator.touch.x.photo.add-to-photomator: the bundled Share extension's data and scripts.~/Library/Group Containers/4R6749AYRE.com.pixelmatorand~/Library/Application Scripts/4R6749AYRE.com.pixelmator: broader app-group state; keep unless wanted contents are backed up and exclusive ownership is confirmed.
These paths were recorded locally. Open existing entries with Finder's Go › Go to Folder, and trash only unwanted confirmed-owned app data after quitting and checking backups. Keep shared parents, the Photos library and photo folders you chose.
Check the result
pgrep -ifl Photomator
ls -ld "$HOME/Library/Containers/com.pixelmatorteam.pixelmator.touch.x.photo" "$HOME/Library/Group Containers/4R6749AYRE.com.pixelmator"
No process match means no arguments matched that name; identify a surviving match before quitting it. Printed folders remain and may be expected if retained. A missing-path error means that exact folder is absent; permissions or command errors are inconclusive. This query does not establish that originals or editable adjustments can be restored.
What Mole lists
The main container/scripts and confirmed own bundled Share-extension folders are selected by default. Back up and uncheck wanted state. The broader group and its scripts folder require individual review and ownership checks; enabling Remove data and settings with apps does not automatically select those shared-group rows.
What this test covered
Photomator 3.4.15 from the Mac App Store was removed on September 21 and retested on September 26, 2026. The later run removed selected main and extension data but kept the app group when ownership could not be confirmed during uninstall. Photo editing, cloud synchronization, populated-library recovery and subscription management were not tested.
