How to uninstall PDFgear on Mac
Save edited PDFs and open the saved copies to verify annotations, forms and signatures before removing PDFgear. This guide covers the tested Mac App Store edition. Developer’s listing
Keep original PDFs and exported documents at their own locations. The app supports editing and conversion, but application settings are not a document backup.
Quit and remove the app
Quit PDFgear, open ~/Library/Containers/com.pdfeditor.pdfeditormac through Finder’s Go › Go to Folder, and copy wanted local contents while the app is closed. Check the backup before resetting it, then move PDFgear.app from Applications to the Trash.
Keep the observed group store ~/Library/Group Containers/HFJS6TAVDF.group.pdfeditormac and group scripts ~/Library/Application Scripts/HFJS6TAVDF.group.pdfeditormac until ownership and your backup are confirmed. The recorded removal refused these paths.
Check the result
ls -ld "/Applications/PDFgear.app"
ls -ld "$HOME/Library/Containers/com.pdfeditor.pdfeditormac"
Printed paths remain. No such file or directory means that exact item is absent; permission errors leave it unknown. Kept data is expected when retaining settings, and this does not verify PDF, signature or conversion recovery.
What Mole lists
The exact main container is selected by default when present and unprotected. Uncheck local data you need. The group store and group scripts are individual-review rows, unchecked by default and not preselected by the app-data option; removal still requires ownership checks. Remove data and settings with apps is off by default; enabling it includes eligible reviewed data while shared and protected items retain their boundaries.
What this test covered
The Mac App Store app was removed on September 21, 2026, initially retaining a denied main container. A September 26 repeat with a source-built Mole removed the app and selected main rows, while the group paths remained protected. No PDF, signature or conversion recovery was tested.
