How to uninstall pap.er on Mac
Keep any wallpaper images you saved at their own locations before removing pap.er. This guide covers the official Mac app tested locally; it does not establish the data layout of an App Store edition.
Remove the app and review its data
Quit pap.er from its menu-bar app. In Finder’s Go › Go to Folder, inspect ~/Library/Containers/com.w.paper before deciding to reset local data. Copy wanted contents first, check the backup, then move pap.er.app from Applications to the Trash; keep your chosen image files and Apple’s wallpaper settings outside this cleanup.
If you installed it with Homebrew
brew uninstall --cask paper
This requests that pap.er quit and removes Homebrew’s managed app. The current cask additionally zaps ~/Library/Application Scripts/com.w.paper, ~/Library/Containers/com.w.paper and ~/Library/Containers/com.w.paper-LaunchAtLoginHelper. Back up wanted data before considering brew uninstall --cask --zap paper, which uses the whole list independently of Mole’s checkboxes. Mole uses zap only when its complete scope passes selection and shared-data checks; unchecked, shared or out-of-boundary paths and unsupported actions suppress zap, while selected remnants use Mole’s removal flow.
Check the result
ls -ld "/Applications/pap.er.app"
ls -ld "$HOME/Library/Containers/com.w.paper"
A listed path remains. No such file or directory means that exact item is absent; a permission error leaves its state unknown. A retained container does not mean the application bundle still exists, and these checks do not prove all wallpaper files were removed.
What Mole lists
The exact main container ~/Library/Containers/com.w.paper is selected by default when present and unprotected; uncheck it to keep local data. The cask’s login-helper container is not evidence that every helper is selected. Check actual rows rather than treating the zap list as default selections. Remove data and settings with apps is off by default; opting in includes eligible reviewed data, while shared and protected items keep their individual boundaries.
What this test covered
The copied official Mac app was launched and removed on September 21, 2026. Its main container remained after a macOS permission denial. An available update was detected, not installed. This record does not verify recovery of saved wallpapers, App Store removal or removal of the helper container.
