How to uninstall Omni Converter on Mac

Keep original media and verify converted output before removing OmniConverter. The official description covers video, audio and compression settings; an unfinished conversion is not a preserved result. This guide covers the Mac App Store edition.

Finish work and remove the converter

Finish or stop conversions, open wanted output files and copy them with the original media to a location outside the app-data folders you plan to remove. Quit OmniConverter, then copy the existing ~/Library/Containers/com.mac.utility.media.converter if you want to keep local app state. Verify the backup before clearing originals.

Move OmniConverter.app from Applications to the Trash in Finder. If you have a monthly or yearly VIP subscription, manage it separately; uninstalling the app does not cancel renewal.

    Review recorded local data

The App Store test identified the main container above and ~/Library/Application Scripts/com.mac.utility.media.converter. Use Finder's Go › Go to Folder after quitting, skip missing entries and trash only unwanted confirmed-owned local app data after backups are checked. Keep parent directories, source videos and exported audio or video.

    Check the result

    pgrep -ifl OmniConverter
    ls -ld "$HOME/Library/Containers/com.mac.utility.media.converter"

No process match means no arguments matched that name; identify a surviving match before quitting it. A printed folder still exists, expected if retained. A missing-path error means that exact folder is absent; permissions or command errors are inconclusive. This does not verify conversion quality or whether every job completed.

    What Mole lists

The main container, scripts folder and attributable temporary entries are selected by default. Back up or uncheck wanted local settings before removal. The optional app-data preference does not change these exact-main-app defaults, and these rows do not include files in a separate output location you chose.

    What this test covered

OmniConverter 1.1.31 from the Mac App Store was removed on September 21 and retested on September 26, 2026. The later run removed the app and selected original data paths. Actual conversion, compression quality, populated settings recovery and VIP cancellation were not tested.

If Mac apps leave files behind after uninstalling, try Mole. I've personally tested and inspected 799 Mac apps.
