How to uninstall Screen Recorder by Omi on Mac
Finish the active recording, save wanted MP4 videos and open them to check playback before removing Screen Recorder by Omi. This guide covers the tested Mac App Store edition. Developer’s listing
The developer documents a separately installed sound-driver plugin for system audio. This app-only test did not install or remove that plugin; this page does not provide verified plugin-removal steps. If you installed it, keep it until you have confirmed the removal procedure for that version with the vendor. Uninstalling the app does not cancel a subscription.
Quit and remove the app
Quit Screen Recorder by Omi. In Finder’s Go › Go to Folder, inspect ~/Library/Containers/com.mac.utility.screen.recorder, copy wanted contents and check the backup before deciding to reset local state. Then move OmniRecorder.app from Applications to the Trash. Keep your recorded videos at their chosen output locations.
Check the result
ls -ld "/Applications/OmniRecorder.app"
ls -ld "$HOME/Library/Containers/com.mac.utility.screen.recorder"
Printed paths remain. No such file or directory means that exact item is absent; permission errors leave it unconfirmed. A retained container is expected when keeping local data. This does not search every exported file or independent component.
What Mole lists
The exact main container ~/Library/Containers/com.mac.utility.screen.recorder and scripts ~/Library/Application Scripts/com.mac.utility.screen.recorder are selected by default when present and unprotected. Uncheck settings or local work you want to retain. Remove data and settings with apps is off by default; enabling it includes eligible reviewed data, while shared and protected data keeps its boundaries.
What this test covered
The Mac App Store app was removed on September 21, 2026, with its container initially retained after a system denial. A September 26 repeat using a source-built Mole removed the app and selected local rows. This did not test recording recovery or sound-driver removal.
