How to uninstall NAVER Whale on Mac
Keep NAVER Whale bookmarks, sign-in data and downloads you still need before removing the browser. Quit Whale and make a checked backup of wanted profile data; the local record retained ~/Library/Application Support/Naver. Do not delete the whole Naver parent as a shortcut. This is NAVER’s browser, not an unrelated app named Whale. Official site
Remove the browser app
Move Whale.app from Applications to the Trash after checking the backup. Keep files at their chosen download locations and other browser profiles. The recorded ~/Library/HTTPStorages/com.naver.Whale also remained protected; app removal does not establish that every sign-in or online account was deleted.
If you installed it with Homebrew
Use the current dedicated NAVER token, not whale:
brew uninstall --cask naver-whale
Quit first; the current cask manages Whale.app without a separate quit stanza. Its additional zap targets are ~/Library/Caches/com.naver.Whale, ~/Library/Preferences/com.naver.Whale.plist and ~/Library/Saved Application State/com.naver.Whale.savedState. That list does not include the observed Naver profile folder. Direct brew uninstall --cask --zap naver-whale uses the full cask list independently of Mole’s checkboxes; Mole only uses zap when the complete scope passes selection and shared-data checks, otherwise selected remnants use its own removal flow.
Check the result
ls -ld "/Applications/Whale.app"
ls -ld "$HOME/Library/Application Support/Naver" "$HOME/Library/HTTPStorages/com.naver.Whale"
Printed entries remain. A missing-path error means that exact item is absent; permission errors leave it unknown. Retained profile data is expected when keeping it; these commands do not verify other copies or online accounts.
What Mole lists
The selected browser app is included for removal. Check actual protections and checkboxes on NAVER Whale data rows, and uncheck profile or HTTP data you need. Protected profile rows remain outside bulk selection, even when the default-off Remove data and settings with apps option is enabled; it does not replace individual profile review.
What this test covered
The copied official Whale.app and selected caches were removed with a source-built Mole on September 22, 2026. The protected Naver profile and HTTP storage were retained; an empty vendor cache parent also remained. Browser-profile recovery, sync, account deletion and a Homebrew-managed uninstall were not tested.
