How to uninstall Min browser on Mac
Before removing Min, export wanted bookmarks and keep a copy of the browser profile. This guide covers the official Mac app and explains an existing Homebrew installation separately. The profile can contain browsing history, open tasks, settings and website sessions; it is not a disposable cache.
Save bookmarks and the profile first
While Min is still available, type !exportbookmarks in its address bar and press Return, then save the HTML file outside Min’s data folder. Open the export to check it contains wanted links. This command is documented in the Min wiki; a bookmark export does not back up every browser setting or open task.
Quit Min with Cmd + Q. In Finder, use Go › Go to Folder to open ~/Library/Application Support/Min, and copy the whole folder to a separate backup location. Treat that copy as private browsing data. This is the profile location observed in our test and listed by the Homebrew cask.
Remove the browser
- If Min is the default browser, choose a replacement in System Settings › Desktop & Dock › Default web browser.
- Confirm Min is quit, then move
Min.appfrom Applications to the Trash. - Keep
~/Library/Application Support/Minfor a reinstall or until you have checked your migration. Remove it individually only if its contents are no longer wanted and your backup is usable.
Downloads saved outside the profile are independent files. Keep them unless you intend to remove them too. Min’s integrations with separately installed password-manager CLIs do not make those tools part of a browser uninstall; see the official password-management notes.
The cask also names ~/Library/Caches/Min and ~/Library/Saved Application State/com.electron.min.savedState. After quitting, open each exact location with Finder's Go › Go to Folder and move only that Min cache or saved window state to the Trash if you no longer need it. Keep the parent folders and the profile you chose to retain.
If you installed it with Homebrew
Uninstall without zap to retain the profile:
brew uninstall --cask min
The cask’s zap list includes ~/Library/Application Support/Min, ~/Library/Caches/Min and saved window state. Direct --zap deletes that profile without consulting Mole’s checkboxes. Mole checks the full zap scope and suppresses it when protected or unchecked data would be removed; selected remnants still use Mole’s own path.
Check the result
Use these read-only checks for an app installed in Applications:
ls -d /Applications/Min.app
pgrep -ifl '/Min\.app/Contents/'
ls -d "$HOME/Library/Application Support/Min"
“No such file or directory” for the app means it is absent at that path. No matching process output means Min was not found running. A surviving profile is expected when you kept your data. A permissions error does not prove a directory is empty or removed. These checks use Min’s app path to avoid confusing it with MindNode.
What Mole lists
Mole lists ~/Library/Application Support/Min as browser personal data, initially unselected, including when ordinary app-data selection is enabled. Eligible personal data can be selected individually after review; shared or unverified data stays locked. Bundle-ID preferences and disposable caches outside the profile are selected by default. Keep the profile unchecked when retaining your browsing data.
What this test covered
On September 21, 2026, the official Min 1.35.7 Mac package was installed, launched without signing in, and uninstalled with Mole. The app, preferences and helper temporary files were removed, while the approximately 5.1 MB profile remained under the browser-data policy. MindNode was left unchanged. Bookmark migration, password-manager integration, profile restoration and Homebrew removal were not tested.
