How to uninstall Microsoft 365 Copilot on Mac
Save wanted Microsoft 365 work and verify documents at their actual locations before removing this Copilot Mac app. The current cask identifies com.microsoft.m365copilot. Keep Office documents, other Office apps, shared Microsoft data and Microsoft AutoUpdate separately; removing this app is not account or subscription cancellation.
Remove this Copilot app
Quit Microsoft 365 Copilot before moving Microsoft 365 Copilot.app from Applications to the Trash. For a Homebrew package installation:
brew uninstall --cask microsoft-365-copilot
Ordinary uninstall quits the listed Microsoft AutoUpdate process and handles only the m365copilot package receipt; it does not claim to uninstall shared AutoUpdate. Zap additionally targets the exact Copilot scripts, container and preference leaves. Direct --zap ignores Mole selections and is not a command to delete the shared Office group.
ls -ld "/Applications/Microsoft 365 Copilot.app"
ls -ld "$HOME/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.ms"
Printed paths remain. Missing-path errors apply only to those locations; permission errors leave them unknown. Keeping the shared Office group is expected, and these checks do not verify online documents, subscriptions or all Microsoft apps.
What Mole lists
The selected app is checked by default. The shared Office group and its scripts retain their protection and should stay unselected; do not bypass a refusal by deleting the group manually. Remove data and settings with apps is off by default and does not make shared Office data eligible for automatic selection. Confirm any exact app-only row separately from the group.
What this test covered
The maintainer-installed official Copilot app was removed with source-built Mole on October 4, 2026. Shared Office scripts and group data were retained after protected/failed outcomes. Shared Microsoft AutoUpdate was not attributed to this app. Document recovery, account or subscription changes, Status and update behavior were not verified.
