How to uninstall Lattics on Mac

Export wanted writing and copy local data before removing Lattics. Its official site describes local-first storage with optional third-party synchronization and exports such as PDF, Word and Markdown. A readable export preserves that output, not necessarily all editable cards, links and project state. This guide covers the Mac App Store edition.

    Preserve writing before removal

Save open writing and export documents you need outside Lattics, then open the exports to verify them. If you use third-party sync, verify wanted content on another available synced device. Quit Lattics and its local tasks, then copy the existing container and group below outside every sync root and removal folder. Keep the originals if you have not confirmed that the backup can recover the state you need.

Move Lattics.app from Applications to the Trash in Finder, and check System Settings › General › Login Items & Extensions for an unwanted Lattics login helper. A Pro subscription is managed separately from uninstalling the app.

Review the recorded App Store data

Use Finder's Go › Go to Folder for each existing location:

    • ~/Library/Containers/com.auramarker.lattics: the app's local sandbox data, not one disposable cache.
    • ~/Library/Application Scripts/com.auramarker.lattics: main sandbox scripts support.
    • ~/Library/Group Containers/MZRLAQ784A.com.auramarker.lattics and ~/Library/Application Scripts/MZRLAQ784A.com.auramarker.lattics: recorded group data and scripts support; back up and confirm exclusive ownership before removing.

These paths come from the App Store test, not a vendor claim that every edition uses them. After verifying the backup, trash only unwanted confirmed-owned entries. Keep shared parents, source PDFs, Zotero libraries and any sync destination you chose.

    Check the result

    pgrep -ifl Lattics
    ls -ld "$HOME/Library/Containers/com.auramarker.lattics" "$HOME/Library/Group Containers/MZRLAQ784A.com.auramarker.lattics"

No process match means no arguments matched this name; identify a surviving match before quitting it. Printed directories still exist, expected if retained. A missing-path error means that exact directory is absent; permissions or command errors are inconclusive. Directory existence alone does not show that your writing is recoverable.

    What Mole lists

The main container and scripts folder are selected by default, so back up and uncheck wanted writing or settings. The team-prefixed group and its scripts folder require individual review; enabling Remove data and settings with apps does not automatically select these shared-group rows. Deletion still checks exclusive ownership and permissions. User-chosen external libraries are not made app data by opening them in Lattics.

    What this test covered

The Mac App Store installation was removed on September 21 and retested on September 26, 2026. The later run used Lattics 4.2.0; selected main and group data were moved to the Trash and original attributed paths were absent in follow-up. No populated writing library, export/import recovery or third-party sync was tested.

If Mac apps leave files behind after uninstalling, try Mole. I've personally tested and inspected 799 Mac apps.
