How to uninstall KakaoTalk on Mac

Save wanted KakaoTalk messages and attachments before removing the Mac client. The official service page identifies this messaging product. Verify wanted content through a usable backup or another confirmed copy; do not assume the desktop cache contains every restorable chat. Quit KakaoTalk before copying wanted contents of ~/Library/Containers/com.kakao.KakaoTalkMac.

Remove the Mac client

Move KakaoTalk.app from Applications to the Trash after checking saved content. Keep the account, exported media and other device data separately. This guide does not claim a verified Mac backup-menu flow or that uninstalling the client deletes the account.

Printed paths remain. Missing-path errors apply only to those locations; permission errors leave them unknown. A retained container is expected if keeping local data, and these checks do not establish complete chat recovery.

What Mole lists

The selected app, exact main container and scripts are normally checked when present and unprotected. The confirmed own ShareExt container/scripts can also be checked by default. Uncheck the main container if keeping local content. Remove data and settings with apps is off by default; other clients, shared accounts and separately saved attachments stay separate.

What this test covered

The maintainer-installed Mac App Store app and selected main/share-extension data were removed with source-built Mole on October 4, 2026. Populated conversation restoration, account deletion, Status and update behavior were not verified.
