How to uninstall Jump Desktop on Mac

Keep wanted connection settings and files before removing Jump Desktop. The official setup guide distinguishes the viewer you connect from from Jump Desktop Connect on the computer you connect to. This guide covers the website-download Mac viewer and Homebrew cask jump-desktop, not the Connect host or the App Store edition's storage layout.

End the remote session, then quit

Close remote sessions and save files on the machine where they belong. Quit Jump Desktop with Command + Q, then back up its support data and ~/Documents/JumpDesktop if present. Move Jump Desktop.app from Applications to Trash after it quits.

If you also want to remove Jump Desktop Connect from a host, use its own uninstall action. Open Connect from its menu bar icon if necessary, then use its settings uninstall action. Removing the viewer does not revoke all host access or remove the host's components.

    Review viewer data

After quitting and verifying your backup, open each existing path with Shift + Command + G in Finder. For a full local removal, move only the listed app-owned items you no longer need to the Trash; keep remote files and shared data.

    Location Keep or remove
~/Documents/JumpDesktop A user-document path in the cask's zap list. Inspect and back up before any explicit deletion.
~/Library/Application Support/Jump Desktop Display-name support folder found in the test. Preserve wanted settings.
~/Library/Application Support/com.p5sys.jump.mac.viewer.web The tested viewer's bundle support data. Back up before resetting.
~/Library/Caches/com.p5sys.jump.mac.viewer.web Viewer cache named by the cask.
~/Library/Cookies/com.p5sys.jump.mac.viewer.web.binarycookies Viewer cookie file named by the cask; removal can clear local sessions.

Remote files and Connect-host settings are separate. Uninstalling does not cancel account billing or other subscriptions.

    Check which app remains

    pgrep -il 'Jump Desktop'
    ls -d "/Applications/Jump Desktop.app" "/Applications/Jump Desktop Connect.app" "$HOME/Documents/JumpDesktop"

No process output means no matching name is running; inspect any match in Activity Monitor to distinguish viewer from Connect. Printed paths remain, missing-path errors mean absence, and permission errors leave the result unknown. A Connect app left on a host is not proof the viewer uninstall failed.

If you installed it with Homebrew

    brew uninstall --cask jump-desktop

This removes the viewer without zap. Direct brew uninstall --cask --zap jump-desktop additionally applies the cask list for Documents/JumpDesktop, the bundle cache and cookie file, without consulting Mole's checkboxes.

Mole skips --zap for this cask because its Documents-folder target is outside the locations in the uninstall review. It still removes the leftovers you selected.

    What Mole lists

The viewer's exact bundle support data, cache, HTTP storage and logs are selected by default. Application Support/Jump Desktop is listed but not selected with Remove data and settings with apps off; enabling it can preselect eligible reviewed data. Documents/JumpDesktop is user-document data protected from Mole's uninstall removal; back it up and review it separately.

    What this test covered

Jump Desktop 9.1.9 from the official ZIP was copied to Applications and uninstalled on September 21, 2026, without sign-in, remote connections or a Homebrew receipt. The app, bundle support/cache/HTTP/log data and empty display-name support folder went to Trash. No host helper was installed. Connect-host removal, remote access revocation, populated documents and the App Store edition were not verified.

Mac running low on space or slowing down? Mole can clean out the junk, remove apps completely and keep macOS in shape.
