How to uninstall Immersive Translate (沉浸式翻译) on Mac

Immersive Translate, 沉浸式翻译, comes from the Mac App Store as a small app whose real job is the Safari extension inside it. Deleting the app removes that extension from Safari as well, so once the app is gone the translation buttons are gone from your pages. A Pro membership is not tied to the app: if you subscribed through the App Store, cancel it in your Apple account's subscriptions; if you paid on Immersive Translate's website, manage it there. Extensions you installed separately in Chrome, Edge or Firefox are separate installs and stay. This guide covers the App Store app; there is no Homebrew cask for it.

Quit Safari and remove the app

1. Quit Safari, so the extension is not in use while its app is removed.
2. In Finder, open Applications and move Immersive Translate to the Trash. macOS may ask for an administrator password, because App Store apps are installed by the system; Mole's test asked for one as well. You can also delete it from Launchpad.
3. Open Safari › Settings › Extensions afterwards. Immersive Translate Extension should no longer be listed.

To cancel an App Store subscription, follow Apple's guide to cancelling a subscription. Removing the app does not cancel it.

Where the app keeps its data

The app is sandboxed, so its data sits in containers named after its bundle ID. Press Shift + Command + G in Finder and open each location, skipping any that is missing. Immersive Translate does not document these paths; they come from the recorded tests.

Check the result

Run these read-only commands after the app is in the Trash:

• pluginkit printing (no matches) means macOS no longer has the Safari extension registered. A line with the extension's ID means a copy of the app is still installed somewhere, for example a second copy outside Applications.
• ls -d prints each container that still exists. "No such file or directory" means that container is gone.

What Mole lists

This describes Mole for the Mac App Store version:

• The app's container and Application Scripts folder under com.immersivetranslate.Immersive-Translate are selected by default.
• The Safari extension's container and Application Scripts folder under com.immersivetranslate.Immersive-Translate.Extension are selected by default, because the extension ships inside the app.
• The temporary folders macOS keeps for the app, including its WebKit ones, are selected by default.
• Subscriptions and extensions in other browsers are outside Mole's list.

What this test covered

On September 26, 2026, Immersive Translate 1.33.3 was installed from the Mac App Store, launched once without signing in, and uninstalled with a development build of Mole, with every listed item ticked for the test. Only the extension process started, so Status had no row for the app. The app and all eight listed rows went to the Trash, both containers included, after an administrator approval for the App Store app. No startup item appeared before or after. An earlier test on September 21, 2026 installed 1.33.1 from the App Store and used Mole 1.15 Preview build 282 with its default selection: the app, its Application Scripts folder and the temporary folders went to the Trash, the 652 KB app container could not be moved because macOS refused permission, the 4 KB extension container was listed but not ticked, and the Safari extension was no longer registered afterwards. Neither test enabled the extension in Safari, changed its settings or signed in, and no Pro membership was involved.
