How to uninstall HP: Print and Support on Mac

Save wanted scans, PDFs and app settings before removing HP: Print and Support. The current App Store publisher description identifies this app as the successor to HP Smart. Check saved scan files at their actual locations, then quit HP before copying wanted contents from ~/Library/Containers/com.hp.SmartMac.

Remove the support app

The recorded Mac filename is HP.app. Move that app from Applications to the Trash after checking saved work. Keep printer setup, separately installed HP drivers and other HP software unless intentionally removing them through a matching vendor flow. This app-removal record is not a full printer-driver uninstall or account cancellation.

Printed paths remain. Missing-path errors apply only to those locations; permission errors leave them unknown. These checks do not verify all print queues, drivers, cloud scans or document recovery.

What Mole lists

The selected app, exact main container and scripts are normally checked when present and unprotected. Uncheck the container if keeping local support state. Remove data and settings with apps is off by default; shared HP products, printer drivers and saved documents stay separate.

What this test covered

The maintainer-installed Mac App Store app and selected sandbox data were removed with source-built Mole on October 4, 2026. Printer-driver removal, populated scan recovery, account changes, Status and update behavior were not verified.
