How to uninstall GOG Galaxy on Mac
Save game files and saves at their actual locations before removing GOG Galaxy. The official product page describes the client; removing it is separate from deleting every installed game or closing the GOG account. End downloads and quit games and the client before removing services or copying wanted client data.
Remove the installed client and services
For Homebrew, use the current gog-galaxy cask before independently removing the app:
brew uninstall --cask gog-galaxy
Ordinary uninstall unloads the listed autoLauncher, ClientService and commservice jobs, then deletes the app. Zap additionally targets the ClientService daemon file and privileged helper, shared GOG.com data, user support, preferences and saved state. Direct zap ignores Mole choices, and the shared target can contain data beyond this client's own settings.
For Mole, review only Galaxy's confirmed service and data rows, and complete its quit-and-remove flow before considering residual files. Keep games, saves and any shared data used elsewhere. Do not remove parent LaunchDaemons or PrivilegedHelperTools folders.
ls -ld "/Applications/GOG Galaxy.app"
ls -ld "/Library/PrivilegedHelperTools/com.gog.galaxy.ClientService"
Printed paths remain. Missing-path errors apply only to those locations; permission errors leave them unknown. File absence does not establish that every service is stopped or that games and saves can be restored.
What Mole lists
The selected app and confirmed own service targets can be selected, with deletion still applying its safety checks. Display-name support and vendor cache children need review; empty shared vendor parents stay. Remove data and settings with apps is off by default, and shared game stores retain individual review.
What this test covered
The maintainer-installed official package was removed with official Preview Mole on October 3, 2026. The selected app, system agent, daemon, privileged helper and selected local data were absent afterward, and startup readback had no product row. Empty vendor parents remained. No login or game library was created; game-save recovery, account deletion and Homebrew-managed removal were not tested.
