How to uninstall Format Factory on Mac

Keep original media and check converted output before removing Format Factory. This guide covers the Mac App Store app identified as com.formatpcfactory.geshi, not instructions for a Windows installation with a similar name. The publisher describes video, audio and image conversion, and renewable membership plans.

    Finish conversions and save files

Finish or stop active conversions and open wanted output files to check them. Copy originals and completed exports outside the app-data folders you plan to remove. Quit 格式工厂, then copy the existing main container below if you want to preserve local settings. Verify the backup before deleting originals.

Move 格式工厂.app from Applications to the Trash in Finder. If you subscribed to membership, manage renewal separately; removing the app does not cancel it.

    Review recorded app data

The test identified ~/Library/Containers/com.formatpcfactory.geshi and ~/Library/Application Scripts/com.formatpcfactory.geshi. Open existing entries through Finder's Go › Go to Folder after quitting, then trash only unwanted confirmed-owned local data after backup checks. Keep their parents, original media and user-chosen output directories.

    Check the result

    pgrep -ifl '格式工厂|Format Factory'
    ls -ld "$HOME/Library/Containers/com.formatpcfactory.geshi"

No process match means this pattern found no matching arguments; identify a surviving match before quitting it. A printed container remains and is expected if retained. A missing-path error means that exact folder is absent; permission or command errors leave its state unknown. This does not verify completed conversions or membership cancellation.

    What Mole lists

The main container, scripts folder and attributable temporary entries are selected by default. Back up or uncheck wanted local settings before removal. The optional app-data preference does not change these exact-main-app defaults, and those rows do not own your original or separately saved converted files.

    What this test covered

The Mac App Store 1.1.7 app was removed on September 21 and retested on September 26, 2026. The later run removed the app and selected original data paths. Conversion functionality, populated-settings recovery and subscription management were not tested.

If Mac apps leave files behind after uninstalling, try Mole. I've personally tested and inspected 799 Mac apps.
