How to uninstall Floorp on Mac

Back up your Floorp profile before uninstalling. It contains browser data such as bookmarks, passwords, extensions and workspaces, not just cached pages. The official privacy documentation also distinguishes local data from Mozilla Sync: removing the app does not necessarily remove synced copies. This guide covers the official Mac download and Homebrew cask floorp.

    Save your profile, then quit

Save wanted tabs and files, quit Floorp with Command + Q, then copy ~/Library/Application Support/Floorp to a backup outside that directory. Keep the copy if you plan to reinstall; the recorded test did not verify restoration of a signed-in profile.

Move Floorp.app from Applications to Trash. If it is still in use, check Floorp in Activity Monitor first. Removing this app does not remove Firefox or other Mozilla-based browsers.

    Review the browser data separately

In Finder, use Shift + Command + G to inspect these locations from the Homebrew cask and the recorded Mac test.

    Location Keep or remove
~/Library/Application Support/Floorp Personal browser profile. Keep for a reinstall, or back up before choosing to delete it.
~/Library/Caches/Floorp Floorp's cache. Inspect after quitting; leave other browser caches alone.
~/Library/Caches/Mozilla/updates/Applications/Floorp The Floorp-specific update cache named by the cask. Do not remove the Mozilla parent folder.

The cask also uses ~/Library/Preferences/*.floorp.plist and ~/Library/Saved Application State/*.floorp.savedState patterns for preferences and saved state. Open each parent folder in Finder and match the filenames yourself; * is a pattern, not a folder path. After backup and quitting, move only confirmed Floorp files you no longer need to the Trash rather than deleting every Mozilla preference. Its rmdir entry for ~/Library/Caches/Mozilla is an empty-directory operation, not permission to delete that shared directory recursively.

    Check what remains

    pgrep -il Floorp
    ls -d /Applications/Floorp.app "$HOME/Library/Application Support/Floorp" "$HOME/Library/Caches/Floorp"

No output from pgrep means no matching process name is running; a match needs a check in Activity Monitor. A path printed by ls still exists, a missing-path error means it is absent, and a permission error leaves its state unknown. Keeping the profile is an expected result when preserving browser data.

If you installed it with Homebrew

    brew uninstall --cask floorp

This uninstalls without zap. A direct brew uninstall --cask --zap floorp also applies the support-folder, cache, update-cache and preference/state list above, including your profile, regardless of Mole's checkboxes.

Mole uninstalls browsers without --zap and removes the leftovers you select.

    What Mole lists

~/Library/Application Support/Floorp is listed but not selected. Browser profiles stay outside the Remove data and settings with apps opt-in and bulk selection; a personal or sensitive profile needs an individual choice, while shared or unverified ownership cannot be selected. The app's own cache and bundle-identified preferences are selected by default when present.

Mole keeps the shared Mozilla parent and other browsers' profiles outside this removal.

    What this test covered

Floorp 12.18.0 from the official DMG was copied to Applications and uninstalled on September 21, 2026, without signing in or a Homebrew receipt. The app, preferences and 28.7 MB cache went to Trash. Its 21.5 MB support folder remained because that run did not list the new Floorp bundle identifier's profile root; the current source maps that identifier to the review row described above. Profile deletion, Mozilla Sync and profile recovery were not verified.

Mac running low on space or slowing down? Mole can clean out the junk, remove apps completely and keep macOS in shape.
