How to uninstall FastZip on Mac

Save archive passwords and completed output files before removing FastZip. The publisher's App Store description says it can save passwords for compression and extraction; losing local settings can therefore matter even when your archives remain intact. This guide covers the Mac App Store edition.

Save passwords and remove the app

Wait for compression or extraction to finish, verify wanted archives and extracted files, and retain their passwords privately. Quit FastZip, then copy the existing main container and wanted app-group data below to an independent private backup. Verify that copy before deleting originals, and keep original data until recovery is confirmed if the saved password book is important.

Move FastZip.app from Applications to the Trash in Finder. Its bundled Finder extension leaves with the app; do not delete other vendors' Finder extensions or change the files you compressed merely to make an extension list empty.

    Review recorded local state

    • ~/Library/Containers/cn.better365.FastZip and ~/Library/Application Scripts/cn.better365.FastZip: main app data and sandbox scripts support.
    • ~/Library/Containers/cn.better365.FastZip.Extension and ~/Library/Application Scripts/cn.better365.FastZip.Extension: the bundled Finder extension's data and scripts.
    • ~/Library/Group Containers/4K6FWZU8C4.group.cn.better365.FastZip and ~/Library/Application Scripts/4K6FWZU8C4.group.cn.better365.FastZip: the exact FastZip app group; back up and confirm exclusive ownership before removal.

These paths come from the recorded installation. Keep ~/Library/Group Containers/4K6FWZU8C4.group.cn.better365.iRightMouse, which belongs to another product, and do not remove a shared better365 parent. Open each existing path with Finder's Go › Go to Folder and trash only confirmed unwanted FastZip data after backups are checked.

    Check the result

    pgrep -ifl FastZip
    ls -ld "$HOME/Library/Containers/cn.better365.FastZip" "$HOME/Library/Group Containers/4K6FWZU8C4.group.cn.better365.FastZip"

No process result means no arguments matched the pattern; identify a surviving match before quitting it. A printed path still exists and can be expected when kept. A missing-path error means that exact path is absent; other errors leave the state unknown. Neither a folder's presence nor its absence proves password-book recovery.

    What Mole lists

The main container, scripts folder and confirmed own bundled Finder extension folders are selected by default. The exact team-prefixed FastZip group and its scripts folder can also be selected by default when ownership is verified, but deletion still checks for other installed claimants and keeps the data if ownership cannot be confirmed. Uncheck wanted settings after backing them up. The data-removal option does not override shared-group protection, and another product's iRightMouse group is not FastZip's data.

    What this test covered

FastZip was removed from its Mac App Store installation on September 21 and retested on September 26, 2026. The later 3.0.8 run removed selected main and Finder-extension data, while the FastZip group was kept when installed-app ownership changed during the run. The other product's group remained outside the removal plan. Archive operations and stored-password recovery were not tested.

If Mac apps leave files behind after uninstalling, try Mole. I've personally tested and inspected 799 Mac apps.
