How to uninstall Eagle on Mac
Back up the complete Eagle library at its actual location before removing the app. The official backup instructions copy the library folder to another storage location and wait for copying to finish. Save changes, quit Eagle, then copy the whole library and check its contents; an Application Support backup alone does not replace the asset library.
Remove the app, keep the library
Move Eagle.app from Applications to the Trash after checking the backup. The recorded library was outside the user's Library directory and was left alone. Keep your actual library wherever it is stored, and review ~/Library/Application Support/Eagle separately if resetting local app state.
For Homebrew, use the Eagle asset manager's ogdesign-eagle cask:
brew uninstall --cask ogdesign-eagle
The cask named eagle is Autodesk's unrelated product. Ordinary ogdesign-eagle removal removes the app; zap also targets Application Support/Eagle, Logs/Eagle, the exact preference plist and saved state. Direct --zap ignores Mole selections and does not identify every library at a user-chosen location.
ls -ld "/Applications/Eagle.app"
ls -ld "$HOME/Library/Application Support/Eagle"
Printed paths remain. A missing-path error applies only to the named location; permission errors leave it unknown. Neither check verifies the library backup or every browser extension.
What Mole lists
The selected app and exact preference are normally checked when present and unprotected. Display-name support and log folders are reviewed and unchecked by default. Remove data and settings with apps is off by default; eligible reviewed data may be included when enabled, so keep wanted state and your asset library unselected. An arbitrary library is not an app cache.
What this test covered
The official app and selected support, cache, log, preference and recent-document data were removed with source-built Mole on September 23, 2026. Eagle initially did not respond to quit, and removal waited until it had been exited manually. The external asset library remained. Populated library recovery, browser-extension removal and Homebrew-managed uninstall were not tested.
