How to uninstall DBX on Mac
Save SQL files, exports and wanted connection settings before removing DBX. The official site describes a database client; removing it does not remove the database servers or separately stored database files. Quit DBX before copying the local ~/Library/Application Support/com.dbx.app to a checked backup.
Remove DBX
Move DBX.app from Applications to the Trash after checking saved work. Keep database files at their actual locations, especially databases opened from outside the support folder.
For Homebrew, the current dbx cask supports:
brew uninstall --cask dbx
Ordinary removal removes the Mac app. Zap also targets its exact bundle-identifier Application Support, Caches, Logs, preference plist and WebKit folder. Direct --zap ignores Mole choices and can reset saved client data; use it only after verifying the backup.
ls -ld "/Applications/DBX.app"
ls -ld "$HOME/Library/Application Support/com.dbx.app"
Printed paths remain. A missing-path error establishes only that named location is absent; permission errors leave it unknown. Neither check verifies database backups or removal of other DBX installations.
What Mole lists
The selected app and exact bundle-identifier leaves are normally checked when present and unprotected. Uncheck the support folder to keep client data. Remove data and settings with apps is off by default, while shared stores and external database files stay separate.
What this test covered
The official app and selected local data were removed with source-built Mole on September 23 and 26, 2026. The second run found none of the original selected paths remaining and no new app startup item. Populated connection recovery, database restoration and Homebrew-managed uninstall were not tested.
