How to uninstall Comfy Desktop on Mac

Save workflows, inputs, generated outputs, custom nodes and models before removing Comfy Desktop. Keep the actual installation/data directory you chose. The desktop project’s documentation says that directory is stored as basePath in ~/Library/Application Support/ComfyUI/config.json, with additional model locations in extra_models_config.yaml. If that configuration exists in your installation, use it to identify what to back up; the cask’s support-folder name alone is not a model inventory.

    Quit and remove Comfy Desktop

Finish generation and save the workflow, then quit the desktop app and check its remaining app processes in Activity Monitor before copying local data. Copy wanted files from the chosen data directory to a separate checked backup; keep external models and Python/uv installations used by other projects. Then move Comfy Desktop.app from Applications to the Trash.

The cask names ~/Library/Application Support/Comfy Desktop for optional data cleanup. Inspect its actual contents and copy wanted settings before resetting it. Do not delete every folder named Comfy or a shared model parent.

If you installed it with Homebrew

    brew uninstall --cask comfy

Quit first; the current cask has no separate quit stanza. Its additional zap targets are:

    • ~/Library/Application Support/com.apple.sharedfilelist/com.apple.LSSharedFileList.ApplicationRecentDocuments/com.todesktop.241012ess7yxs0e.sfl*
    • ~/Library/Application Support/Comfy Desktop
    • ~/Library/Caches/com.todesktop.241012ess7yxs0e*
    • ~/Library/Caches/comfyui-desktop-2-updater
    • ~/Library/HTTPStorages/com.todesktop.241012ess7yxs0e
    • ~/Library/Logs/Comfy Desktop
    • ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.todesktop.241012ess7yxs0e*.plist
    • ~/Library/Preferences/com.todesktop.241012ess7yxs0e.plist

Inspect wildcard matches individually. Direct brew uninstall --cask --zap comfy applies the complete list independently of Mole’s checkboxes. Use the no-zap command when retaining any data. Mole only uses zap when the complete scope passes selection and shared-data checks, otherwise selected remnants use its own removal flow.

    Check the result

    ls -ld "/Applications/Comfy Desktop.app"
    ls -ld "$HOME/Library/Application Support/Comfy Desktop" "$HOME/Library/Application Support/ComfyUI/config.json"

Printed entries remain. A missing-path error means that exact item is absent, not that every model directory is absent; permission errors leave it unknown. A retained chosen data directory is expected when preserving work. These checks do not verify model recovery or another ComfyUI installation.

    What Mole lists

The display-name support folder ~/Library/Application Support/Comfy Desktop is reviewed and unchecked by default. A user-chosen model directory is not established by that row. Remove data and settings with apps is off by default; enabling it includes eligible reviewed data, with shared model stores and protected data retaining their boundaries. Check actual rows instead of treating every README location as a deletion target.

    What this test covered

The copied official desktop app and selected support data were removed with a source-built Mole on September 22, 2026. This test did not generate a model directory. Generation workflows, custom nodes, model recovery, independent Python removal and a Homebrew-managed uninstall were not tested.

If Mac apps leave files behind after uninstalling, try Mole. I've personally tested and inspected 799 Mac apps.
