How to uninstall ChatALL on Mac

Keep the conversations you need before uninstalling ChatALL. Its official documentation says chat history, settings and login data are stored locally, and resetting its data removes settings and messages. This guide covers the official Mac download and the Homebrew cask chatall; removing the client does not delete your AI-provider accounts or cancel their subscriptions.

    Save local conversations first

While ChatALL is still available, copy wanted conversation text somewhere you can open independently. Then quit the app with Command + Q and copy ~/Library/Application Support/chatall to a backup outside that directory if you want to retain its local state. A folder copy preserves files, but this guide does not establish that login sessions or chat history can be restored by a later version.

Move ChatALL.app from Applications to Trash after quitting. If macOS says it is in use, check ChatALL in Activity Monitor and finish any remaining task before removing its data.

    Decide about the chat data

Use Finder's Shift + Command + G to inspect each location individually.

    Location Contents and removal decision
~/Library/Application Support/chatall The official reset location for settings and message history. Keep for a reinstall, or back up before removal. It can contain login data.
~/Library/Caches/ai.chatall App cache named in the Homebrew cask. Inspect after quitting.
~/Library/Preferences/ai.chatall.plist Preferences named in the cask. Keep if needed, or remove to reset them.
~/Library/Saved Application State/ai.chatall.savedState Saved application state named in the cask. Remove if no longer needed.

The Homebrew cask spells the support folder ChatALL, while the official instructions and the recorded test use chatall. On the usual case-insensitive Mac volume these identify the same folder. On a case-sensitive volume, inspect the folder actually used by your installation rather than creating or deleting both spellings.

    Check the result

    pgrep -il ChatALL
    ls -d /Applications/ChatALL.app "$HOME/Library/Application Support/chatall" "$HOME/Library/Application Support/ChatALL"

No output from pgrep means no matching process name is running. A listed process needs a check in Activity Monitor. Each path printed by ls still exists; a missing-path error means that spelling is absent, and a permission error leaves the state unknown. The two support-folder checks are not a count of two separate stores. A deliberately kept chat folder is not a cleanup failure.

If you installed it with Homebrew

    brew uninstall --cask chatall

This uninstalls without zap. A direct brew uninstall --cask --zap chatall also removes the support folder, cache, preferences and saved state from the cask, including local chats and settings, regardless of Mole's checkboxes.

Mole checks Homebrew's full removal list and skips --zap when it reaches unchecked data, shared files or anything it cannot verify. It still removes the leftovers you selected.

    What Mole lists

~/Library/Application Support/chatall is listed for review, not selected with the Remove data and settings with apps setting off. Enabling that option can preselect eligible app data, so uncheck this folder when keeping conversations. The app's bundle-identified cache, updater cache, HTTP storage, preferences and saved state are selected by default when present; Chromium cache entries inside a support folder can be listed separately from the conversation data.

Removing these local files does not revoke AI-provider accounts or API access. Manage those with the corresponding provider.

    What this test covered

ChatALL 1.85.110 from the official package was copied to Applications and uninstalled on September 21, 2026, without signing in or a Homebrew receipt. The test selected all listed data and moved the app, its 3.1 MB support folder, updater cache, HTTP storage and identified temporary caches to Trash. A September 26 reinstall and removal with a development build of Mole recorded 15 removed entries and none of that list remaining on disk, with no new startup entry before or after removal. Neither run verified signed-in conversations, account deletion or recovery of saved chat data.

Mac running low on space or slowing down? Mole can clean out the junk, remove apps completely and keep macOS in shape.
