How to uninstall CC Switch on Mac

Back up CC Switch’s provider settings, saved credentials and original configuration backups before removing it. The official README places these in ~/.cc-switch by default and says the independently installed CC Switch CLI shares this store. Keep it while that CLI still uses it, and keep Claude Code, Codex and other tools’ own settings and sessions.

    Quit and remove CC Switch

Quit CC Switch normally before copying its database. The README says a normal quit restores the direct provider configuration when local routing was active. Removing the manager does not uninstall its managed tools or revoke API credentials with their providers.

In Finder’s Go › Go to Folder, inspect ~/.cc-switch and ~/Library/Application Support/com.ccswitch.desktop. With the app closed, copy wanted contents to a separate backup and check the copies before choosing to reset either. If you changed CC Switch’s configuration directory, also retain the actual directory you chose; the default folder is not a complete inventory of that setup. After checking the backup, move CC Switch.app from Applications to the Trash.

If you installed it with Homebrew

    brew uninstall --cask cc-switch

Ordinary removal manages the Mac app; the cask has no separate quit or service-uninstall stanza, so quit first. The current cask additionally zaps:

    • ~/.cc-switch
    • ~/Library/Application Support/com.ccswitch.desktop
    • ~/Library/Caches/com.ccswitch.desktop
    • ~/Library/Preferences/com.ccswitch.desktop.plist
    • ~/Library/Saved Application State/com.ccswitch.desktop.savedState
    • ~/Library/WebKit/com.ccswitch.desktop

Direct brew uninstall --cask --zap cc-switch uses the entire list independently of Mole’s checkboxes and can erase the CLI’s shared store. Use the command without zap when retaining any target. Mole uses zap only when its complete scope passes selection and shared-data checks; unchecked, shared or out-of-boundary paths and unsupported actions suppress zap, while selected remnants use Mole’s removal flow.

    Check the result

    ls -ld "/Applications/CC Switch.app"
    ls -ld "$HOME/.cc-switch" "$HOME/Library/Application Support/com.ccswitch.desktop"

Printed paths remain. No such file or directory means that exact item is absent; permission errors leave the check unconfirmed. A retained shared store is expected if the CLI still needs it. These commands do not verify your tools’ provider configuration or online API accounts.

    What Mole lists

The exact support folder ~/Library/Application Support/com.ccswitch.desktop is selected by default when present and unprotected, so uncheck it when keeping its contents. The app-owned ~/.cc-switch store is reviewed and unchecked by default. Enabling the default-off Remove data and settings with apps option may also select this eligible own store, so uncheck it when the separate CLI still uses it or you want to keep its contents. Shared and protected data keeps its existing boundaries.

    What this test covered

The copied official Mac app was launched and removed on September 21, 2026 without signing in or accepting extra permissions. A crash report was kept by the machine’s whitelist, and temporary WebKit data was denied by macOS. The test did not populate the home store, exercise provider switching, uninstall the separate CLI or verify credential recovery. The current cask and README describe additional data scope, not additional completed tests.

If Mac apps leave files behind after uninstalling, try Mole. I've personally tested and inspected 799 Mac apps.
