How to uninstall Camera Hub on Mac
Save wanted Camera Hub settings before removal, then quit the app and stop using its virtual camera. This guide's recorded app was copied from the official package without running installer scripts, so the full installation can have a different app name and component scope.
Remove the matching app or package
For the recorded copy, move Camera Hub.app from Applications to the Trash after saving settings. The installer normally renames it Elgato Camera Hub and performs additional system work; do not treat the copy as proof of full package removal.
For Homebrew, the current cask supports:
brew uninstall --cask elgato-camera-hub
Read its ordinary removal scope before using it: it includes CameraHub and DisplayLink service/receipt entries, a quit/signal step and deletion of Elgato Camera Hub.app. This is wider than just the copied app and may affect an independently used DisplayLink installation. Zap adds CameraHub logs and its exact preference. Direct zap ignores Mole selections; the current vendor uninstaller procedure is not verified by this copied-app record.
ls -ld "/Applications/Camera Hub.app" "/Applications/Elgato Camera Hub.app"
ls -ld "$HOME/Library/LaunchAgents/com.elgato.CameraHub.plist"
Printed paths remain. Missing-path errors apply only to those locations; permission errors leave them unknown. A missing plist does not prove a loaded service or camera extension is gone.
What Mole lists
The selected app and exact own support/preference leaves can be checked when present and unprotected. Confirmed startup items still need their actual owner checked. The elgato/Camera Hub support child needs review, while the shared elgato parent stays. Remove data and settings with apps is off by default; shared and protected components keep their boundaries.
What this test covered
The copied official app and selected data, including the observed launch-agent file, were removed with source-built Mole on September 28, 2026. The installer scripts were not run and its bundled camera extension was not activated. Empty shared vendor parents remained. Full package removal, vendor uninstaller execution and populated camera settings recovery were not tested.
