How to uninstall BestZip on Mac
Finish compression or extraction and check wanted archives and extracted files before removing BestZip. Keep archive passwords separately; removing the utility does not make a password-protected archive readable. This guide covers the tested Mac App Store edition. Developer’s listing
Quit and review local data
Quit BestZip and any active archive operation before copying its local settings. In Finder’s Go › Go to Folder, inspect these verified locations:
~/Library/Containers/com.fushao.bestzip-lite~/Library/Containers/com.fushao.bestzip-lite.BestZipFinderSync~/Library/Application Scripts/com.fushao.bestzip-lite~/Library/Application Scripts/com.fushao.bestzip-lite.BestZipFinderSync
Copy wanted contents and check the backup before deciding to reset them, then move BestZip.app from Applications to the Trash. Keep archives and extraction destinations at their own locations. Keep the separate ~/Library/Group Containers/group.artdesktop.bestzip and ~/Library/Application Scripts/group.artdesktop.bestzip. The test did not establish them as safely removable app-owned data.
Check the result
ls -ld "/Applications/BestZip.app"
ls -ld "$HOME/Library/Containers/com.fushao.bestzip-lite" "$HOME/Library/Containers/com.fushao.bestzip-lite.BestZipFinderSync"
Printed entries remain. A missing-path error means that exact item is absent; permission errors leave it unconfirmed. Keeping group data is separate from retaining the app. This check does not verify archive passwords, extracted documents or every integration.
What Mole lists
The main container and scripts are selected by default when present and unprotected. The confirmed bundled Finder Sync extension’s container and scripts are also selected by default. Uncheck settings you need. The separate group container is not an established app-owned removal target. A group script offered for review is unchecked by default and its removal is protected; keep it rather than bypassing that protection. Remove data and settings with apps is off by default; opting in includes eligible reviewed data, with shared and protected items retaining their own boundaries.
What this test covered
The Mac App Store app was removed on September 21, 2026, initially retaining a denied main container and unchecked extension data. A September 26 repeat using a source-built Mole removed the app and selected main and extension rows, while group data was kept by protection. Temporary WebKit endpoints still appeared in the rescan. No personal archive, password recovery or extraction workflow was tested.
