How to uninstall Affinity Photo 1 on Mac
Save editable photos, originals and wanted Photo V1 resources before removal. The current legacy cask identifies this older edition separately from Photo 2 and Canva's Affinity. Close documents and quit V1 before copying wanted support contents.
Remove Photo V1
Move Affinity Photo.app from Applications to the Trash after checking saved files. Keep originals, exported images and other Affinity editions. For a Homebrew V1 installation:
brew uninstall --cask affinity-photo@1
Ordinary removal removes the V1 app. Zap additionally targets Application Support/Affinity Photo, its exact cache and saved state. Direct --zap ignores Mole selections and can reset local resources. Do not use the Photo 2 cask for this recorded edition.
ls -ld "/Applications/Affinity Photo.app"
ls -ld "$HOME/Library/Application Support/Affinity Photo"
Printed paths remain. Missing-path errors apply only to these locations; permission errors leave them unknown. These checks do not verify original images or resource recovery.
What Mole lists
The selected app is checked by default. Exact identifier leaves can be checked when present and unprotected, while display-name support needs review and is unchecked by default. Remove data and settings with apps is off by default and may include eligible reviewed data when enabled; keep wanted resources and other editions separate.
What this test covered
The official Photo V1 app was removed with source-built Mole on October 3, 2026. Launch stopped at its loader without reaching an interactive screen; only the app was listed and removed. Image editing, populated resource recovery, Status and Homebrew-managed uninstall were not tested.
